car&bike Expert Take
“With rear-seat ventilation, powered front seats and a 360-degree camera, the Honda Elevate now feels like a much more upmarket car. For buyers who want both mechanical reliability and high-level comfort from the same package, this vehicle has become much more alluring now.”

Honda Cars India has given the Elevate a new facelift, one where two new flagship trims have been made available at the top of the range: the ZX+ and the blacked-out ZX+ Black. While the mechanicals stay familiar with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine, Honda has added all-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake to the CVT automatic variants.
The cabin now gets front and rear ventilated seats as well, along with electric front seat adjustments and an updated Level 2 ADAS suite that offers low-speed follow for heavy traffic. Seshan Vijayraghvan spent some time with the updated SUV from our side. He observed,
“The facelift brings a refreshed design, a more feature-rich cabin and several additions that address some of the SUV's key shortcomings.”

The Elevate sticks to its naturally aspirated 1.5-litre, 1,498 cc four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine.
Engine Specifications
To handle the car’s transmission duties, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a step-ratio continuously variable transmission (CVT).
| Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission | Drivetrain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1.5-Litre i-VTEC Petrol
| 119 bhp @ 6,600 rpm
| 145 Nm @ 4,300 rpm
| Six-speed Manual / Seven-speed CVT
| Front-Wheel Drive |
City Driving
- Around town, the Elevate feels light when on the move.
- The six-speed gearbox slots into gears with short, positive throws.
- If you choose the CVT, low-speed manoeuvres in city traffic are completely effortless.
- Power delivery from the engine is linear, meaning you do not have to deal with turbo lag.
Highway Driving
- Out on the highway, the Elevate’s engine cruises comfortably at 100 kmph.
- Power builds up cleanly and linearly up to its high rev range (7,000 rpm redline).
- But to pass slower vehicles, you need to press the pedal hard to get it past 4,000 rpm.
- Then the four-cylinder motor lets out a familiar roar, which may get filtered into the cabin.

The updated Elevate sticks to its upright, traditional SUV design.

Build Quality & Materials
The Elevate is built on Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, which uses high-tensile steel to form a tough passenger cell. The doors shut firmly and with a secure, solid sound. Panel gaps around the bonnet and tailgate are tight and even. Inside, Honda has given the dashboard soft-touch leatherette materials along with neat contrast stitching.

The facelift has remarkably sharpened the front and rear styling of the car.
Seshan adds,
"The Honda logo has been moved up onto the edge of the bonnet, and it looks much nicer this way."
Front Profile
- The front end gets a bold new black mesh grille with a gloss black upper moulding.
- Full LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs and turn indicators are standard.
- Rugged tri-bar signature LED position lights sit with the grille on VX, ZX, and ZX+ trims.
Side Profile
- The square, upright window line gives passengers an airy cabin feel.
- VX, ZX, and ZX+ variants ride on 17-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels.
- The new ZX+ Black trim receives multi-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black.

Rear Profile
- Connected signature LED tail lamps run across the tailgate.
- There’s also a roof spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp on the rear windscreen.
- The tall rear bumper features a protective skid plate and four recessed parking sensors.

New tech and a few segment-first seat features have been added to the facelift.
Cabin Layout and Quality
- The dashboard has a dual-tone Ivory and Black colour scheme with soft-touch padding.
- The new ZX+ Black trim gets a sporty all-black interior with piano-black air vent surrounds.
- Honda has kept physical toggle switches for automatic climate control and seat ventilation.

Seating Comfort
Front Row
- The front seats are wrapped in perforated leather upholstery on higher trims.
- In the flagship ZX+ and ZX+ Black, the driver gets an eight-way power-adjustable seat.
- Both front seats feature three-stage cooling ventilation, a relief feature for Indian summers.
Second Row
- Legroom and knee room are generous here.
- The seat base has a natural height, providing proper under-thigh support.
- In a segment first, the ZX+ trims of the Elevate introduce ventilated rear seats.
Seshan says,
"In fact, during our experience, I felt like the rear seat ventilation was much more powerful than the front."
Features That Improve Daily Use
- A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment
- Both front and rear ventilated seats
- 360-Degree Camera
- PM2.5 Air Purifier

The car’s refreshed lineup starts at Rs. 11.80 lakh for its entry-level SV manual variant, while the ZX+ trim reaches Rs. 18.58 lakh (ex-showroom).
Ex-Showroom Prices (India)
Variant | Engine & Transmission | Ex-Showroom Price |
|---|---|---|
SV | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual) | Rs. 11.80 Lakh |
V | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual / CVT) | Rs. 12.37 - 13.87 Lakh |
VX | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual / CVT) | Rs. 14.01 - 15.47 Lakh |
ZX | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual / CVT) | Rs. 15.47 - 16.97 Lakh |

ZX+ Black | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual / CVT) | Rs. 16.90 - 18.40 Lakh |
Because the Elevate uses a non-turbo, naturally aspirated engine, its fuel economy remains relatively stable in mixed traffic. The six-speed manual has an ARAI-certified mileage of 15.31 kmpl, while the CVT automatic returns a slightly higher 16.61 kmpl.
Observed Fuel Efficiency During Testing

|---|---|---|---|
1.5-Litre Petrol (Six-speed Manual)

1.5-Litre Petrol (CVT Automatic)
| 16.61 kmpl

While it has no Bharat NCAP crash safety rating, the Elevate did score five stars from Japan NCAP (sold as the Honda WR-V in Japan).
Passive Safety and Crash Protection
- This SUV uses Honda’s ACE body platform, which can manage crash impacts well.
- Six airbags are standard equipment across all variants right from the base SV trim.
- You also get three-point seatbelts, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and rear ISOFIX mounts.
Active Safety and Stability Systems
- Every variant comes standard with VSA, traction control, hill start assist, and ABS with EBD.
- The CVT trims get rear disc brakes alongside an electric parking brake with auto brake hold.
- Honda Sensing (Level 2 ADAS) is standard from the ZX trim upward.
The camera-based system includes:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Adaptive cruise control (with low speed follow on CVT models)
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and road departure mitigation
- Lead car departure notification and auto high-beam
The VX and ZX trims keep Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot camera on the left mirror. Meanwhile, the new ZX+ variants have a 360-degree surround-vision camera with front parking sensors.

The technology available in this car is a mix of updated digital displays as well as some straightforward controls.
Infotainment and Interface
- The 10.25-inch touchscreen is standard on ZX and ZX+ trims.
- You get both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
- The seven-inch digital cluster sits alongside an analogue speedometer dial.
- The smaller eight-inch touchscreen is for the V and VX models of the Elevate.
- There’s an eight-speaker sound system of four speakers and four tweeters on the top trims.
- The Honda Connect boasts over 37 connected features and offers Alexa remote commands.

Seshan notes,
"The infotainment’s a smooth, easy-to-use system, so there’s little to complain about."
Cabin Convenience and Practical Features
- The rear ventilated seats are available on the ZX+ trims.
- Three-stage cooling on the front seats of the ZX and ZX+ keeps you comfortable.
- There is a single-pane electric sunroof that you can access from the VX trim upward.
- A wireless charging pad sits on the centre console with an independent power switch.
- ZX+ adds eight-way power-adjustable seats for the driver and a four-way for the passenger.

The Elevate has 458 litres of boot space. Its cargo bay is deep, wide, and cleanly squared off, making it easy to slide in three large travel suitcases alongside a few soft bags.
The loading lip also sits at a comfortable height, so lifting heavy luggage inside does not strain your back. All variants come standard with 60:40 split-folding rear seats, allowing you to quickly fold down a section to carry longer items when needed.
Honda’s suspension layout values comfort over uneven city streets the most.
City Driving
- The car handles speed breakers and broken road joints quietly.
- The steering wheel feels light at slow speeds, making three-point turns simple.
- The 220 mm ground clearance ensures you never scrape the SUV’s belly over rocky surfaces.
Highway Driving
- Out on the highway, the Elevate holds a confident, steady line.
- When pushing through fast curves, body roll is predictable and well-contained.
- The steering weighs up reasonably well, allowing you to maintain momentum as you go.
There are six main trims of the Honda Elevate.
| Variant | Engine & Transmission | Key Additions | Best Suited For |
|---|---|---|---|
| SV | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual) | Six airbags, LED projector headlamps, auto AC, keyless entry, seven-inch digital cluster | Strict budget buyers who want core safety and space |
| V | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual / CVT) | Eight-inch touchscreen, rear camera, connected car tech, rear disc brakes (CVT) | Value-conscious commuters wanting an automatic on a budget |
| VX | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual / CVT) | Electric sunroof, 17-inch alloys, tri-bar LED lights, ambient lighting, LaneWatch camera | Mainstream buyers wanting modern tech and exterior flair |
| ZX | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual / CVT) | Honda Sensing ADAS, 10.25-inch screen, front ventilated seats, leatherette cabin | Safety-conscious buyers who want long-distance highway comfort |
| ZX+ | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual / CVT) | Rear ventilated seats, power front seats, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors | Luxury-focused buyers wanting top comfort across both rows |
| ZX+ Black | 1.5-Litre Petrol (Manual / CVT) | All-black interior, gloss black 17-inch alloys, blacked-out exterior trim bits | Buyers wanting an aggressive, dark styling package |
The Essentials That You Don’t Get
- A turbo-petrol or diesel engine
- A strong-hybrid powertrain
- A panoramic sunroof
Unlike some rivals, Honda did keep essential features in reserve for the upper trims. You notice this as you keep climbing up the variant ladder.
Best on a Budget: V CVT
If you want a dependable, hassle-free automatic SUV for city traffic, the V CVT at Rs. 13.87 lakh is one trim you can take a look at. It gives you the smooth CVT gearbox, rear disc brakes, an eight-inch touchscreen, six airbags, and automatic climate control without crossing Rs. 14 lakh ex-showroom.
Best Value Overall: VX CVT
To pick up a more value-for-money variant, you can go for the VX CVT instead. At Rs. 15.47 lakh, it adds the electric sunroof, stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, connected LED tail lamps, wireless phone charging, and the useful LaneWatch camera, which means you get a well-rounded package.
Best for Comfort and Tech: ZX+ CVT
If your budget allows, the ZX+ CVT at Rs. 18.58 lakh is worth the stretch. In this one, you get segment-first rear ventilated seats, power-adjustable front seats, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS with Low Speed Follow, which turns it into a very comfortable family car.

The Elevate sits in India’s most crowded automotive segment. It competes directly against popular Korean, Japanese and European crossovers; names that stand out are the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
| Model | Powertrains | Key Strengths | Ex-Showroom Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5-Litre Petrol
| 220 mm ground clearance, front and rear ventilated seats, 458-litre boot
| Rs. 11.80 - 18.58 Lakh |
| 1.5-Litre Petrol / 1.5-Litre Turbo / 1.5-Litre Diesel
| Panoramic sunroof, punchy turbo engine, wide service network
| Rs. 10.90 - 20.11 Lakh |
| 1.5-Litre Petrol / 1.5-Litre Turbo / 1.5-Litre Diesel
| Dual 12.3-inch screens, sporty handling, diesel automatic option
| Rs. 11.25 - 21.57 Lakh |
| 1.5-Litre Petrol / Strong Hybrid / CNG
| High fuel efficiency, All-Wheel Drive option, low upkeep costs
| Rs. 10.77 - 19.77 Lakh |
Which Mid-Size SUV Should You Choose?
- Choose the Honda Elevate if you want the highest ground clearance and the most comfortable ventilated seats for both rows.
- Choose the Hyundai Creta if you want a panoramic sunroof and the choice between a punchy turbo-petrol and a diesel engine.
- Choose the Kia Seltos if you love aggressive styling, stiff handling and a high-tech curved dashboard.
- Choose the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara if you want to extract 25+ kmpl from a strong-hybrid powertrain.
Pros
- It has rear ventilated seats on the top-end variants which makes it an attractive choice for family road trips and chauffeur-driven owners.
- There are powered front seats and factory-fitted 360-degree camera with front sensors.
- Versions with the CVT gearbox are offered with disc brakes on all wheels and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold.
- There is considerably lower road and tyre noise filtering into the cabin, when compared to the older car.
- Boxy stance with subtle updates gives the Elevate a refreshed look.
- The 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine is smooth, predictable and free of any turbo lag.
- Honda Sensing ADAS (Level 2 camera-based) brings functions like adaptive cruise control (with low-speed follow on CVT), collision mitigation braking, and lane keep assist.
Cons
- It misses features like a panorama sunroof and rear window sunblinds which enhance rear seat comfort.
- The typical CVT gearbox rubberband affect is still prominent and makes you rely on the paddle shifters to avoid it.
- Engine options are strictly restricted to the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine.
- It’s relatively narrow cabin width makes seating three adults in the second row a slightly cramped affair.
- The manual gearbox variants get rear drum brakes and a manual handbrake lever.
Verdict
While the 2026 Honda Elevate facelift now gets more features, it still sticks to its core fundamentals. New bits are the rear seat ventilation, powered and ventilated front seats, factory 360-degree cameras, rear disc brakes on the CVT, and better sound insulation, which has transformed the Elevate into a well-rounded car.
Seshan Vijayraghvan said in his review, “the Elevate continues to make a case for itself with its practicality, comfort and value. It may not be the most exciting SUV to drive, but the facelift makes it a more well-rounded package, particularly for family buyers who prioritise everyday usability over outright performance.”
What dampens the experience is non-punchy power output and the absence of panoramic sunroofs or dual-clutch transmissions. However, if you value no-nonsense mechanical dependability, excellent visibility, a tall 220 mm ride height, and genuine rear-seat comfort, the updated Elevate makes for an option worth considering.
Honda Elevate Mileage
Honda Elevate mileage is 15 KM/L as per ARAI The Manual Petrol engine has a mileage of 15.3 KM/L. The CVT Petrol engine has a mileage of 15.3 KM/L.
| Fuel Type | Transmission | Mileage | City Mileage | Highway Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Manual | 15.3 KM/L | 12.8 KM/L | 16.3 KM/L |
| Petrol | CVT | 15.3 KM/L | 12.8 KM/L | 16.3 KM/L |

- Fuel efficiency is decent4.0VX [2023-2026](Petrol)I’ve been driving honda elevate for almost a year now, and while there are things I really like, there are also a few aspects that could be better. The design is sleek and stylish, which definitely turns heads. The interior space is quite comfortable, and the seats are great for long drives. The engine performance is smooth, and it handles city traffic well. However, I feel the pick-up could be a bit more powerful, especially on highways when overtaking. The fuel efficiency is decent but not as great as I was hoping for in city conditions. The ride quality is mostly smooth, but the suspension feels a bit stiff over rough roads. Overall, I like my honda elevate for its looks and comfort, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in terms of performance and ride qualityBy KapilPosted on: Sep 25, 2024 09:56 AM00
