Mercedes-Benz CLA EV

Introduction 

• The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is the brand’s entry-level electric sedan in India.  

• It is built on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. 

• A highlight of the sedan is that it has achieved international recognition as ‘Car of the Year 2026’ by 59 leading automotive journalists from 23 countries.  

• Mercedes positions the CLA EV as an efficiency-focused luxury electric vehicle.  

Mercedes Benz CLA EV – Exterior 

• The CLA EV has a sleek and low-slung stance with a coupe-like roofline. 

• Its fascia gets slim LED headlamps connected by a full-width horizontal LED light bar. 

• Adding on, the lamps incorporate a three-pointed star DRL as well.  

• Then, another signature feature of the CLA EV are its frameless doors and windows.  

• This sedan boasts 18-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres.  

• On the other hand, AMG-Line or Launch Edition versions can include up to 19-inch alloy wheels.  

• In the rear, this car mirrors the front with connected LED tail lamps that also feature star-themed lighting.  

• A full-width LED light bar connects the taillamps.  

• Moreover, the lower bumper is finished in gloss black with subtle chrome accents and an integrated rear diffuser.

Mercedes Benz CLA EV – Interior 

• Inside, the CLA EV uses eco-friendly materials, including upholstery made from recycled PET bottles. 

• Its front seats are electrically adjustable with memory, heating, and massage functions. 

• While, the rear seats provide ample headroom and legroom for its occupants.  

• On the tech side, it has a dual-screen layout consisting a 14-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. 

• This central touchscreen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  

• Mercedes offers the CLA EV with a high-end Burmester three-dimensional sound system. 

• Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and wireless charging pad.

Mercedes Benz CLA EV – Powertrain 

• The CLA 200 Standard Range uses a 58kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor. 

• This setup delivers a power output of 224bhp and 335Nm of torque.  

• On the other hand, the CLA 250 plus Long Range uses an 85kWh battery pack and the same rear-mounted layout.  

• This setup provides a power output of 272bhp and 335Nm of torque.  

• Both versions use a two-speed gearbox instead of the usual single-speed reduction gear. 

• Moreover, the CLA 200 has a WLTP-claimed range of 542km and the CLA 250 plus has a similar but 792km.  

• Charging through an AC charger can take up to nine hours for a full charge.  

• Using a 200kW DC fast charger for the sedan can take up to 22 minutes.  

• While, using a 320kW DC fast charger for the sedan can take up to 18 minutes.
