Verdict

The TVS NTorq 125 looks great, has superb dynamics, and comes loaded to the brim with features and technology no other petrol-powered scooter even comes close to. Most of all, NTorq still retains its fun-to-ride character, and that alone more than makes up for recommending it as a performance-oriented scooter that scores right up there with the best available on sale right now. The extra features, riding modes, et al, just make it that much more appealing to the new-generation scooter buyer.

TVS NTorq 125

The TVS NTorq 125 was launched in its Race XP version sometime in July 2021 and this has already caused a fair bit of flutter in the scooter market. TVS has stated that it is the first Indian scooter with so many connectivity features and one that makes more than 10 PS in power.

How is the design?

The TVS NTorq 125 flaunts a design that is striking and modern. The lines are attractive and the red diamond-cut alloy wheels make for a nice touch. The body panel graphics are different from the regular version, while the overall design is sporty and compelling for buyers. The scooter does have a significant road presence, to say the least.

How is the performance?

The TVS NTorq 125 comes with the same engine and suspension system although the engine now makes 10.2 PS at 7,000 RPM along with 10.8 Nm of maximum torque at 5,500 RPM. The other variants generate 9.38 PS and 10.5 Nm of torque. The Race XP has highly advanced steel and alloy steel for its construction along with special engineering polymers. Two riding modes directly influence the delivery of power and overall performance. The Race XP has a throaty and nice exhaust note while it also offers more power on tap, feeling quite agile and responsive to drive. The scooter brings down the feel a little in the Street mode, generating around 9.1 PS and 10 Nm of maximum torque. The power mode lives up to its name and comes with faster responses. The Street mode offers higher economy although the Race mode is what most users will want to try.

How does the TVS NTorq 125 ride?

The TVS NTorq 125 rides decently on most surfaces and it also feels stable while cornering or taking sharper bends. It rides in a straight or linear manner and can also take potholes or bumps smoothly. The scooter handles its power and speed nicely while the front telescopic fork is on the stiffer side, meaning that it may lead to a crashing sensation upon excessively hard bumping at lower speeds. However, it stays stable at higher speeds. The rear spring also does away with any extra stiffness while balancing comfort and sportiness impeccably. The tires are also good performers, offering decent grip on dry and wet roads alike.

How comfortable is the TVS NTorq 125?

The TVS NTorq 125 offers good comfort and riding ease for two people. Long distances will not be a hindrance occasionally as well. The gas-charged mono-shock is a segment-first and there are front forks, combining for a softer suspension setup that remains stiff and encourages a sportier riding experience.

How’s the tech?

The TVS NTorq 125 comes with several connected features and claims to be the first connected scooter in the country. It gets SmartXonnect with Bluetooth, compatibility with the iOS App Store and Android Play Store, along with features like the last parked location, caller ID, navigation, and ride statistics which are shareable on social media platforms. There is a digital instrument cluster with a lot of information along with LED lights and USB charging. There is also voice assist enabling communication through the SmartXonnect application and executing several tasks or commands including management of messages and calls and also switching ride modes. There is also turn-by-turn navigation along with a whole host of other connectivity features.

How’s the mileage of the TVS NTorq 125?

The mileage of the TVS NTorq 125 is approximately 44 kmpl.

Is the TVS NTorq 125 good value for money?

The TVS NTorq 125 offers decent value for money for buyers, offering a good and sporty ride, a powerful engine, stylish design, and a plethora of connected and other features alongside.

How is the after-sales service?

The first service is post 750 kilometres while the second comes after 3,000 kilometres. The third service is after 6,000 kilometres while the last one takes place at 9,000 kilometres.

Which motorbikes compete in the segment?

The TVS NTorq 125 competes with several motorcycles in its category. There is the Honda Activa 125 and also the Suzuki Access 125 along with the Aprilia SR 125 and models from Vespa as well. However, many of these are priced in higher brackets and the main rivals include the Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Grazia. In this context, it can be said that the TVS NTorq 125 outstrips a lot of its rivals in terms of its power, handling, and features.

Verdict (Value for Money)

The TVS NTorq 125 is a value proposition for any buyer in the segment since the pricing is competitive and there is a bucket-load of features available including connected and smart applications, voice assist, and a lot more. The design is stylish while the engine is arguably one of the most powerful in its segment.
