Best known for the AK-47 assault rifle, Russian arms manufacturer Kalashnikov has unveiled an off-road electric motorcycle at a Russian army show. The Kalashnikov SM-1, as it's called, has a top speed of 90 kmph with a range of 150 km on a single charge on its lithium-ion battery.

The second phase of the FAME India scheme will be kicked off on September 7, 2018, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to officials, as per a report by PTI. The scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME) India was introduced in a bid to incentivise sales and manufacturing of electric vehicles in the country. Under Phase II of the initiative, the government has earmarked a budget of Rs. 5500 crore to be used over the next five years and will be used to provide subsidies to all types of electric vehicles.
