Benelli TRK 502 Expert Review
How is the design of Benelli TRK 502?
The Benelli TRK 502 is designed to look intimidating and menacing on the road. The new aluminium-frame handguards are a nice touch along with the backlit switchgear, larger rearview mirrors and new instrument console. The bike looks just like a classic adventure tourer with its chunky front fairing, higher windshield, big spoked wheels and dual-sport tyres, complete with wide and flat handlebars. The look itself is enough to draw attention on the road and this gets the Benelli TRK 502 full marks.
How does the Benelli TRK 502 ride?
The Benelli TRK 502 rides well courtesy of its 19-inch spoked front wheel, complete with dual-sport rubber. There is a 17-inch rear spoked wheel, suspended from the swingarm with a monoshock and 150 mm of travel. The front suspension setup is upside-down adjustable premier forks with more than 150 mm of travel. A little more punch would have done the trick although the power figures are quite impressive. Tall gearing enables climbing even inclined roads at comfortable speeds. The weight is a bit imposing on paper although the bike is not as difficult to manoeuvre.
How comfortable is Benelli TRK 502?
The Benelli TRK 502 is reasonably comfortable for long-distance riding. Benelli India has already revised it's cushioning for improved comfort which is a must for adventure tourers. The bike feels spacious with the handlebar being easier to reach and convenient positioning of footpegs. Backlit switchgear is a major plus point along with new knuckle guards which is not available in many other premium tourers. The ergonomics and seating have been tweaked slightly to keep the comfort quotient on the higher side.
How’s the tech?
The Benelli TRK 502 comes with numerous features including a semi-digital instrument console, aluminium-frame handguards, backlit switchgear, dual-channel ABS and disc brakes at both front and rear. The bike also comes with a gear indicator, pass light, fuel gauge, fuel warning indicator, engine kill switch and more.
How’s the mileage of Benelli TRK 502?
The Benelli TRK 502 offers decent mileage in its class, standing at 30.97 Kmpl (approximately 31 Kmpl).
How is the performance of Benelli TRK 502?
The Benelli TRK 502 performs reasonably well with its four-stroke, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled 500 cc engine. The double overhead cam unit gets four valves for each cylinder. A more refined engine aside, you get impressive performance figures, i.e. 47 bhp of power at 8500 rpm and 46 Nm of maximum torque at 6000 rpm. The bike delivers decent highway performance and even for regular riding. The 6-speed gearbox ensures smooth power delivery while twin 320 mm front discs and a single 260 mm rear disc take care of braking duties. ABS is a standard feature too.
Is the Benelli TRK 502 good value for money?
The Benelli TRK 502 is a decent bang for your buck. It offers a reasonably powerful 500 cc engine with decent power and torque figures. These are not jaw-dropping and some more punch would have been great from the engine. Yet, the bike has revised ergonomics and tweaks for better comfort, more features and a sizable 20-litre fuel tank, making it ideal for highway riders. A nicely sized carrier and pannier are offered by Benelli as factory offerings, which saves costs somewhat. Mileage is decent and road presence wins full marks. In this segment, it is a good option for buyers.
