The brand new Kia Sonet subcompact SUV has got a warm reception and is getting all the attention. But how does it fare against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV 300 and Hyundai Venue?

The subcompact SUV sensation has added another variant that's likely to be very popular too. Maruti Suzuki India has launched the AMT or as it calls it AGS version of its bestselling Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV. We have the exclusive and official first review of the car.

The sub 4-metre subcompact SUV segment is the fastest growing and possibly most popular automotive segment in the country. With players like the Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV 300 and the Honda WR-V making a mark in the segment, the highest selling and most popular of the lot is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Having won the likes of the Subcompact SUV of the Year and the Viewer's choice segments at the 2017 NDTV Car And Bike Awards, the Vitara Brezza sells nearly eight to ten thousand units a month! Now though, there is a new SUV that is vying to take some of that market share away and make itself the new benchmark of the segment, the new 2017 Tata Nexon.

So how does the car compare with the key rivals? The Vitara Brezza will take on the Mahindra TUV 300 (though that car doesn't necessarily have the exact same buyer profile), but in many ways the real rival is the Ford EcoSport, where the direct competition comes from.

The Vitara Brezza draws on Suzukis SUV heritage that has seen limited yet noticeable success the world over with the Vitara nameplate.
