2022 Mahindra Scorpio Spotted Testing Again

- The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be launched by early 2022
- The new Scorpio will get premium features and upmarket styling
- The SUV will come with both petrol and diesel engine options
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will be the next big thing from the home-grown utility vehicle manufacturer. It is expected to be launched in the country by early 2022. Moreover, the expectations from the upcoming SUV are very high given that Mahindra had received an overwhelming response for the XUV700 flagship SUV. The carmaker has been readying the all-new Scorpio for quite some time, and we have seen a host of spy shots in the past. This time around carandbike has managed to capture the upcoming SUV on camera while undergoing a road test.

Under the hood, the new Scorpio will come with both petrol and diesel engine options.
As seen in the exclusive images, the test mule is draped heavily under camouflage serving its purpose to conceal the details. However, we still figure out the exterior elements that will be on offer. The new-generation Scorpio will sport a chrome grille featuring the brand's new logo, LED twin-pod projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, side-step, roof rails, high-mounted stop lamp and rear spoiler and more.
While we have not had a chance to peak into the cabin, the new Scorpio's interior will be well-equipped with new features, equipment and creature comforts. The SUV is likely to get a boxy dashboard, premium upholstery, a new touchscreen infotainment system, a new multi-functional leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, an electric sunroof, optional captain seats, among others.

The new-gen Scorpio will be based on the Mahindra's updated ladder-frame chassis
Under the hood, the new-gen Scorpio is expected to borrow the turbocharged petrol and diesel engines from the new XUV700 and the Thar. The former is the 2.0-litre mStallion engine that produces 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, whereas the oil burner is a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that churns out 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both engines will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
