It is no secret that Detroit Electric has been working on something special, and the SP:01, though two years behind schedule, is here to stay. The company has now released a teaser video that gives us a preview of what the production car will look like.

One look at the video and its obvious the production version will be true to the concept, at least in terms of design. However, the production model will be more powerful than previously reported; the company says the mid-mounted electric motor will produce 278bhp and 280Nm, while the previous reports suggested that it would develop 201bhp and 225Nm torques.

As far as performance figures are concerned, the company says the car will be slower than originally estimated, i.e. it will run from 0-100Km/h in 3.9 seconds.

Albert Lam, CEO, Detroit Electric, said, "This new creative direction reflects Detroit Electric's passion to deliver premium, design-driven products. We are proud to identify with the original Detroit Electric company's history and look forward to enhancing the core values of this historic brand through innovation, pioneering spirit and performance. The new corporate identity has modernized the brand's image to ensure it is fit for today's rapidly evolving market, while preserving some of the magic and heritage of the original Detroit Electric brand."
