Mercedes-Benz has teased the upcoming all-electric EQC SUV in a new video. The video showcases the production version of the EQC all-electric SUV wearing heavy camouflage undergoing winter testing in the arctic circle. The EQC SUV will be based on the Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept car that was originally showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show and then again at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The EQC SUV will also be the first product offering by Mercedes-Benz under the new EQ sub brand that will only have all-electric models of cars on offer. The Mercedes-Benz EQC will be launched as a production model in 2019.

The Geneva Auto Show is possibly the most important and most glamorous global motor shows in the world today and for good reason. Everyone who is anyone in the auto industry chooses this show on neutral Swiss soil to showcase the hottest metal and carbonfibre they have to offer. Having showcased it in images last month, the FIA Formula E Gen2 electric race car was revealed in full glory at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018. The second generation Formula E car is completely new and a major departure from the current single-seater race cars we see today.

It is also an acknowledgement that the big innovations are happening as much in the auto industry's scattered supply base as in the design hubs of the big carmakers, also known as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Having showcased the key bits in images earlier, Hyundai has revealed the new Kona Electric SUV at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. Based on the standard Kona that debuted last year, the Hyundai Kona Electric swaps the petrol engine for a battery powered one along with a few styling changes.

In 2020 Audi will have three all-electric vehicles in its product range, with a four-door Gran Turismo - the production version of the Audi e-tron Sportback concept - and a model in the compact segment joining the sporty SUV.
