Morris Garages India today released the monthly sales data for May 2021, during which the company sold 1016 units in the country. Compared to the 2565 vehicles sold in April 2021, the company witnessed a Month-on-Month (MoM) decline of over 60 per cent.

Bajaj Auto posted total sales of 240,554 units (domestic+exports) in May 2021, which is a growth of 113 per cent over May 2020. The company registered sales of 60,342 units in the domestic market in May 2021.

The growth in the auto business is primarily attributed to a strong quarterly performance where the sales of SUVs went up by 18 per cent at 1,06,333 units as compared to 90,481 units sold in the same quarter last year.

Royal Enfield sold 6,09,403 motorcycles in the financial year (April 2020 to March 2021), down 13 per cent from 6,97,582 motorcycles sold in FY2020.

Automotive insights and analytics provider, Jato Dynamics India, has released data on electric passenger vehicles sold in India during April 2021. According to the data provided by Jato India, which does not include the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the collective sales from Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Tigor EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric stood at 749 unit.

The net loss is primarily attributed to a large write off related to subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover as Tata Motors wrote down assets worth Rs. 9,606.1 crore for cancelled models at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

TVS Motor Company announced that it has sold over 1 lakh units of the TVS NTorq 125 in international markets since it began exports of the scooter.

According to recent data posted by Automotive insights and analytics provider, Jato Dynamics India, Maharashtra led the charts with regards to the highest new vehicle registrations in FY2021. The data, which is claimed to have been sourced from the transport department's Vahan portal, shows that 2,82,330 vehicles were registered in Maharashtra between April 2020 and March 2021.
