Motorcycles costing Rs 1 lakh or more may be levied a 6 per cent additional motor vehicle tax in Karnataka, if a budget proposal presented in the state assembly is passed. The tax slab for bikes falling in this bracket (costing Rs 1 lakh or more) is to be raised from the existing 12 per cent to 18 per cent, according to the proposal.

TVS Jupiter, the popular 110 cc scooter from the home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer has been launched in India with an updated BS-IV compliant engine. The prices remain unchanged with the base variant launched at Rs. 49,666 and the top-of-the-line ZX variant with disc brake priced at Rs. 53,666 (All ex-showroom, Delhi).

The industry seems to be limping back to normalcy with the impact of demonetization becoming moderate by smaller volume contraction in January 2017. Sales in February and March 2017 are expected to be flattish.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today launched the fourth-generation model of its top-selling 110 cc scooter - Honda Activa. Priced at Rs. 50,730 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) the new-gen Honda Activa 4G now comes with a BS-IV compliant engine and Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) function.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the 2017 version of the Activa 125 with a host of updates. The look of the scooter is more or less the same, with the chrome plate on the front apron. The only change is that the front end also houses new LED position lamps and a bigger Honda Two Wheeler badge up front. Honda says that this is the first automatic scooter which gets both, a BS IV engine and auto headlamp on (AHO).

Piaggio Group has launched the Aprilia SR150 Race in the country priced at Rs. 70,282 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The SR150 Race comes in less than six months after the regular SR150 scooter was launched in India and comes with Aprilia's RS-GP inspired body colour and graphics.

Italian two-wheeler brand Piaggio has launched the extremely exclusive Vespa 946 Emporio Armani Edition in India priced at a whopping Rs. 12,04,970 (ex-showroom, Pune). The scooter was commissioned last year to mark the 40th anniversary of Georgio Armani and the 130th anniversary of the Piaggio Group and receives styling from the iconic fashion brand, Armani. Along with new special edition Vespa 946, Piaggio India has also launched its 70th Anniversary Edition Vespa that has been priced at Rs. 96,500 (ex-showroom, Pune).
