Suzuki Two-Wheeler Sales Grow 36 Per Cent

- Suzuki sold more than 53,000 two-wheelers in May 2018
- Suzuki targets 7 lakh sales in 2018-19
- The next launch from Suzuki will be the Burgman Street 125 scooter
Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited has posted the company's highest-ever monthly sales for the second consecutive month. In all, Suzuki sold 53,167 two-wheelers in the domestic market during May 2018, recording a year-on-year increase of 36.59 per cent growth over the same month a year ago. In May 2017, Suzuki Motorcycle India had despatched 38,923 two-wheelers. In May 2018, overall two-wheeler sales, including in the domestic market and exports, stood at 58,682 units, as compared to 44,123 units in May 2017, posting a growth of 33 per cent.
"Continuing the positive growth momentum and recording highest-ever sales numbers for consecutive months is a reflection of customer's trust in our two-wheelers. Pursuing an aggressive target of 7 lakh units for the FY 2018-19, we are buoyed by this encouraging start, having surpassed the 1 lakh mark within the first two months itself. We are keen to continue this vigour in the coming months as well. With exciting product updates in terms of technology and performance, like the Gixxer ABS, we are committed to constantly improve on the value-proposition we offer to our customers as well," said Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd.
In May 2018, Suzuki has commenced despatching for the ABS variant of the Suzuki Gixxer 160 cc motorcycle. Suzuki also recently launched the Suzuki GSX-S750 middleweight performance naked motorcycle at Rs. 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom). In the next couple of months, Suzuki is expected to launch a new maxi-scooter, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125, which shares its engine with the Suzuki Access 125. Suzuki will be looking to continue the sales and growth momentum with the launch of the Burgman Street 125, a much-awaited product which will be one-of-its-kind in the Indian scooter segment.
