Verdict

There is no doubt about the fact that there are a lot of takers for motorcycles like the V-Strom SX. Popping colours, tall stance, mini-ADV looks, decent capability and not super heavy on the pocket. It does have a lot of capability, great highway manners and for a motorcycle that costs less than two and a half lakh rupees, it makes great sense even in a segment that is loaded with options such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Suzuki V-Strom SX 250

The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is an excellent proposition and offers powerful features and specs for buyers as well. It promises to be a great option at its price point. Here’s taking a closer look at it.

How is the design?

The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is an entry-level adventure sport motorbike that is built on the basis of the Suzuki Gixxer 250. Its design and aesthetics are inspired by the larger Suzuki V-Strom models. A sport touring motorbike with a displacement of 250 cc and a platform similar to that of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is presented by Suzuki in the shape of the V-Strom SX. Suzuki is making its debut in the 250 cc entry-level adventure sport touring market with the introduction of the V-Strom SX, which is manufactured in India. The V-Strom SX, which has been marketed as a unique vehicle, which was developed to meet the needs of a subset of riders who are interested in an adaptable adventure sport touring model that is able to handle the challenges of commuting to work, riding on the highway, and going off-roading on trails with only light obstacles. The Suzuki V-Strom SX is an example of an adventure motorcycle that can be purchased in India for a starting price of Rs. 2, 13,900. There is just one version of it available, and there are three colors to choose from.

The V-Strom SX takes its design influences from the Suzuki V-Strom 1050, while the large beak takes its cues from the Suzuki DR-Z racing and the DR-BIG off-road vehicles. The look of an adventure motorcycle is completed by the addition of a tail windshield and handguards, along with an octagonal LED headlight that is mounted above the beak and is reminiscent of the one seen on the Gixxer 250. Large dual-tone plastic gasoline tank shrouds are located on the sides of the motorcycle. Beneath these shrouds is a metal fuel tank with a capacity of 12 liters, which is comparable to the capacity of the Gixxer 250 street naked. The shroud and the beak seem to become one entity, giving the impression that the whole thing is well put together. A dual-piece seat, a dual-tone rear section with an integrated LED taillight, and a luggage carrier that doubles as a grab bar are some of the additional characteristics of this vehicle.

How is the performance?

Comparable to the Gixxer 250 street naked, the 2023 Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is propelled by an oil-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC 4-valve engine that has a displacement of 249 cc and generates a maximum power output of 26.5 horsepower at 9300 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a maximum torque output of 22.2 Nm at 7300 rpm. The BS6-compliant engine features a fuel injection system, electronic ignition, a 6-speed constant mesh transmission, and a wet multi-plate clutch. Additionally, the engine is designed to meet emissions standards. According to Suzuki, the 250cc adventure sports tourer has adopted analytic technology from MotoGP in order to design the valves, shim type roller rocker arms retainer, and pistons in order to minimize weight. A maximum of 150 kilometers per hour can be attained on the Suzuki V-Strom 250.

How does the motorbike ride?

It can't be denied that the engine of the Gixxer 250 is one of its most impressive features, and the V-Strom SX is exactly the same in this regard. What is most impressive about it is its great refinement and tractability, which enables you to ride the bike leisurely through the city without the need to change gears too frequently. This is the feature that stands out the most. However, you have to keep in mind that this engine is in the same level of tune as the Gixxer 250, and that means you have to rev it in order to access all of its performance while riding at a brisk pace on the roads. This is something that you have to keep in mind at all times. The good news is that you will never get tired of doing so as a result of how smooth and composed the engine feels at high speeds. People who are looking for a sporty streak in their quarter-litre adventure touring motorcycle should find this to be appealing. At a speed of 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour), with the transmission in the sixth position, this engine exhibits a notable lack of noise. At those speeds, there is almost no sensation of vibration, and even maintaining a speed of between 100 and 120 kilometers per hour does not appear to place an excessive amount of pressure on the engine. However, if you continue to travel faster than that, you will begin to notice a decrease in performance as you approach the maximum possible speed. Having said that, one must take into account the fact that this engine is required to propel a motorcycle that is 11 kg heavier than the Gixxer 250. As an additional point of interest, it will be fascinating to observe how well it operates with a pillion passenger, panniers, and a top box all attached to it. That is a tale that must be saved for some other time.

This engine continues to lend itself pretty nicely to the application of the sport adventure motorcycle that is the V-Strom SX, based on what we have experienced so far. In a similar vein, the ergonomics of this motorcycle are also rather impressive.

How comfortable the motorbike is?

The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is a great bike for commuting or weekend rides. It's comfortable and easy to ride, making it a good option for people new to motorcycles. The seat is fairly low to the ground, which makes it easy to get up and down off the bike. The handlebars are placed close together, which makes it easy to manoeuvre. The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 also has a fuel tank that's small compared to some other motorcycles, so it doesn't take long to fill up.

In line with its use for commuting and touring, this motorbike from Suzuki features a rider's triangle that the company has managed to design to perfection. To begin, the seat is level, wide, and offers a good deal of legroom, which is suitable even for riders of considerable height. The redesigned handlebar is situated at a distance from the seat that allows for a comfortable reach, and the foot pegs do not have an excessively rear set position. Because the riding position is so relaxed, I did not have any feelings of exhaustion or backaches despite spending nearly a whole day in the saddle.

Regarding the ergonomics, when you are standing on the pegs and riding off-road, you will notice that the handlebar is set a bit lower than what would be ideal. This is especially true if you are a tall rider. In order for you to reach the handlebar, this causes you to lean over further than is comfortable. In spite of this, other components of the bike, such as the 19-inch front wheel and the MRF Mogrip Meteor tyres, provide the necessary capability and grip for riding down a light mud track. Because it has a larger front wheel that is 19 inches in diameter and because the pivot point of the swingarm has been moved higher, the V-Strom SX has a ground clearance of 205 millimetres, which suggests that it should be able to handle a greater variety of challenging terrain. Nevertheless, the suspension acts as a constraining force. Because it is designed for usage on roads, and because the front end has only 120 millimetres of travel, you should avoid doing things like leaping this bike off of mounds or climbing over rocks and other obstacles. Despite this, you'll still be able to have a good time riding your off-road vehicle on trails that are only slightly challenging. The fact that the V-Strom rides and handles so well is conclusive evidence that it was designed with the road in mind rather than the dirt or the trail.

How’s the tech?

Even when the sun is directly above you, it is not difficult to read the information on the LCD display because of the incredible design of the layout and the positioning of the display itself. The device is Bluetooth-enabled and provides the standard set of capabilities, such as notification of incoming calls and messages and navigation with turn-by-turn directions. The fact that there is a USB charger that is included as standard is another handy feature, but the cover that is currently provided for the port is a little too flimsy for my liking. I would have liked to see an improved cover for the port instead. 2023 The Suzuki Easy Start System is standard equipment on the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. This system enables the rider to start the motorcycle with a simple push while having the clutch pulled all the way in rather than having to hold the switch. A device can be charged via the USB port located on the left side of the instrument cluster; this port glows blue, making it simple to find even in low-light settings.

The highlights and key features of the new Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 include the Suzuki Ride Connect Edition with Bluetooth enabled digital console, speed exceeding alert, turn-by-turn navigation, phone battery level display, Call, SMS & WhatsApp alert, ETA updates, missed call alert & caller ID, last parked location, lightweight versatile crossover, LED headlight & tail lamp, dual-exit muffler, LED headlight & tail lamp, dual-exit muffler, engine under the cow.

How’s the mileage of the motorbike?

According to the manufacturer, the new V-Strom SX 250 has a mileage of 32-35 kilometers per litre (kmpl). In approximately 9.6 seconds, the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour.

Is the motorbike good value for Money?

The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is a great value for money motorcycle. The bike comes with a lot of features that make it an enjoyable ride. It has a great engine that is able to handle most trails and roads with ease. The bike also comes with a number of safety features that make it a safe ride. The price of the bike is also very reasonable, making it an ideal choice for those who are looking for a good motorcycle at an affordable price.

How is the after sales service?

If you have a Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 bike, you're in for a treat. Not only does this motorcycle feature excellent performance and handling, but it’s after sales service is also unbeatable. Suzuki has a long history of producing reliable motorcycles, and the same can be said for them after sales service. In addition to offering a wide range of services, including repairs and replacements, Suzuki also offers training and support to help you get the most out of your motorcycle.

Which Motorbikes Compete in this Segment?

It is possible to consider the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the Yezdi Adventure, the KTM 250 Adventure, and the Benelli TRK 251 to be the new Suzuki -Strom SX 250's direct competitors. The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is the perfect bike for anyone looking to get out and ride. It is a great bike for beginners also, as it is easy to ride and has decent acceleration.

Verdict (Is it Value for Money?)

The V-Strom SX 250 carries all of the strong attributes of the Gixxer 250 and bundles them together with an increased amount of space, an upright riding position, and increased levels of comfort. The V-Strom SX is possibly one of the most accomplished solutions in terms of road touring that you will find at this price bracket. However, the only off-road and all-around capability it has is a ground clearance of 205 millimetres and a front wheel that is 19 inches in diameter. This motorcycle is not designed to be used off-road, and it is effectively a Gixxer 250 elevated on stilts. Despite the fact that it costs Rs 30,000 more than the street naked motorcycle, this makes for an excellent machine for both commuting and highway use.

The additional bodywork, larger wheel and tyres, Bluetooth connectivity, and other features are all factors that contribute to the increased cost. In point of fact, the price of Rs 2.11 lakh places it 25,000 rupees below that of its principal competitor, the KTM 250 Adventure, and this is despite the fact that it is not nearly as capable off-road as the Austrian motorcycle. In conclusion, to answer the question, do you believe that this merits the V-Strom badge? It's a nice tarmac-biased touring bike with all the quality and dependability you'd expect from a Japanese motorbike. In other words, it's exactly what it sounds like.
