    • About Diesel Cars

Just like petrol vehicles, diesel vehicles also use internal combustion engines. The only difference between these two fuel types is that while diesel engines have a compression-ignited injection system, petrol cars are operated with a spark-ignited system.

Diesel fuel directs the fluid into the combustion chamber in a compression-ignited system. Afterwards, the gas gets injected into the engine piston that ignites at a high temperature. Diesel is a commonly used transportation fuel and uses the same components and engine systems as other fuel types.

Although petrol is cheaper, diesel is much more fuel-efficient. By investing in a diesel car, you can have 25 % more mileage than any other fuel type car. Due to this reason, a major chunk of vehicle users prefers diesel variants. And it's also why several Indian vehicle manufacturers focus mainly on diesel car production.

Modern-day diesel cars give a better fuel economy due to their high-pressure fuel-injection systems. The best aspect of owning a diesel car is you would have a low fire hazard. Diesel-powered motors cannot ignite if they are not exposed to direct heat, while other fuel car types can catch fire by a spark.

Selecting the Best Diesel Cars In India

New-age diesel cars are far more improved and way better than the old ones. These cars no longer produce black smoke and are not only used by the farmer. Today's diesel motors have been improved and refined, so much so that these engines are no more recognizable. For that reason, so many well-renowned car manufacturers have taken an interest in investing more in diesel car manufacturing.

The buyers would have an easier time when maintaining a diesel car. Because the diesel engine is differently built, it doesn't take much time to care for it. A diesel engine is devoid of spark plugs and wires, distributor, and electronic ignition. And fewer components mean there will be fewer parts to exchange.

      Types of Diesel Cars

Midsize Sedan – Midsize sedans are one of the best diesel-fuelled cars. If you have a requirement or an impact car you will use for long drives with your loved ones; this diesel vehicle is the perfect car for you.

Pick-up Trucks – Most pick-up trucks run on diesel. And the most common reason behind it is its greater compressive resistance. Due to diesel motors, pick-up trucks can take more loads easily rather than trucks that run on petrol.

SUVs – SUVs are one of the most loved car types, and most of these also run-on diesels. SUV cars are rugged and can ride on uneven roads easily; a diesel-powered car perfectly complements its functions.

Convertibles – Thinking about diesel-fuelled convertibles was impossible a few years ago. But modern-age convertible cars run on diesel and are refined and quiet.

      Popular Diesel Cars in India

      Citroen C5 Aircross –

Citroen C5 Aircross offers high-speed ride quality, and it is also superb look wise. Not only have that, despite being fuelled by diesel, but this car also offers fantastic noise-cancellation when compared with other diesel vehicles. You might hear a little diesel thrum when it gets on the throttle at a low speed. This luxurious car has a look and the comfort factor most people seek out.

      Mercedes-Benz GLA –

Although the look of this car is enough to compel you, Mercedes-Benz GLA has so many features that are hard to find. You will not hear the engine running until you run it to the full speed. This Mercedes can hit 60/100 km in a swift 3.26/7.22 seconds. Your love for speed deserves this diesel-powered car.

      Honda Amaze –

Honda amaze gives a large storage capacity with a spacious cabin and boot. The compact diesel CVT engine is undoubtedly a plus point. Aside from that, its looks are definitely to die for.

Things To Know before Buying a Diesel Car

      • A Safe Investment -
Investing in a diesel car means securing a better resale value for the future. When looking for used cars, people often opt for buying a diesel-powered one. Therefore, you would not have any issues when searching for a seller in future.
      • Durable Engine -
Diesel engines are more durable as well as robust. If you plan to ride on demanding roads, you must invest in a diesel-fuelled car.
      • Ease of handling -
It would be easier to handle such cars also, and the likelihood of engine combustion is substantially lower during an accident.

    FAQ's on Diesel Cars

Maserati Levante and Maserati Quattroporte are the new cars launched in India.
The upcoming cars in 2025 are Audi E Concept, Skoda Elroq, Mahindra XUV.e9 and Mahindra XUV900.
Maserati Levante, Maserati Quattroporte and others are among the popular cars in India
Maserati Levante, Maserati Quattroporte and others are among the top mileage cars in India.
Diesel cars use diesel fuel instead of gasoline to power their engines. They typically have better fuel efficiency and lower emissions than gasoline cars, but can be more expensive to purchase and maintain.
Diesel engines are typically more efficient than gasoline engines because they use a higher compression ratio and inject fuel into the combustion chamber at a higher pressure. This means that more of the energy from the fuel is used to power the car, rather than being lost as heat.
Yes, diesel cars are quite popular in India. Diesel fuel is generally less expensive than gasoline in India, which makes diesel cars more cost-effective for many consumers. Additionally, many people in India prefer diesel cars for their better fuel efficiency, which can help save money on fuel costs over time. However, in recent years, the Indian Government has implemented stricter emission norms and increased taxes on diesel cars, which has led to a decline in their popularity.
Better fuel efficiency, which can result in significant savings on fuel costs over time. Stronger low-end torque, which can make for a more powerful and responsive driving experience. Usually, diesel cars are better in terms of mileage.
Higher upfront cost as compared to petrol cars. More expensive maintenance and repairs. Diesel cars are generally heavier and may not perform as well in stop-and-go city driving. With stricter emission norms and increased taxes on diesel cars, it can be more expensive to own and operate a diesel car in India.
In order to meet the emission norms, diesel cars in India are equipped with a particulate filter that captures soot and particulate matter from the exhaust, as well as an oxidation catalyst that converts carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). -Newer cars are also equipped with selective catalytic reduction(SCR) system which helps in reducing Nitrogen oxide(NOx) which is a major pollutant.
Yes, there are several alternatives to diesel cars in India, including gasoline cars, electric cars, and hybrid cars. Gasoline cars are less expensive to purchase and maintain than diesel cars, but may not be as fuel efficient. Electric cars and hybrid cars are more environmentally friendly than diesel cars and can provide significant cost savings over time, but they can be more expensive to purchase and may not have as much driving range.
