The company is witnessing great demand for the electric compact SUV, and last month, in August 2021, MG Motor India received its highest-ever monthly bookings, crossing the 700 units mark.

Switch Mobility the electric mobility arm of Ashok Leyland's parent company Hinduja Group has announced appointing ex-Mahindra Electric MD & CEO, Mahesh Babu in two key leadership roles. Babu, who announced stepping down from his position as the head of Mahindra Electric last month, will now take up two leadership positions at Switch Mobility - Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Switch Mobility Ltd, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Switch Mobility, India.

Indian car maker Mahindra and Mahindra said on Thursday it expects a 20%-25% drop in September vehicle production at its automotive division due to semiconductor shortages.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the company registered a growth of 85 per cent as compared to 6,055 units sold in July 2021.

Nissan India reported total sales of 3,209 units last month, a growth of over 296 per cent over 810 units sold in August 2020.

Last month, Kia India sold 16,750 units which include 8,619 units of the Seltos, 7,752 units of the Sonet, and 379 units of the Carnival. The Korean carmaker has registered a decent 54.4 per cent Y-o-Y growth over the same period last year.

Even on month-on-month (MoM) basis, MG Motor India recorded an uptick of 2.1 per cent as it sold 4,315 units in August 2021.

In August 2021, Maruti Suzuki's total sales stood at 130,699, a 5 per cent year-on-year growth compared to 124,624 units sold in August 2020. But, compared to 162,462 units sold in July 2021, Maruti saw a month-on-month decline of 20 per cent.
