- The ALFA-Arc platform shared with Altroz has been designed for EV as well
- It will likely be the most affordable EV in Tata Motors range
Tata Motors is betting big on electric vehicles and eventually they are likely to form an integral part of the company's line-up. The Tata Nexon EV has already been a runaway success for the carmaker being the bestselling EV in the county recording an average monthly sales of 500 units per month. And Tata Motors has already sold shown us the EV prototype of the Tata Altroz at Auto Expo 2020. We also know that all latest and upcoming platforms at Tata's stable are being designed to incorporate EV powertrains as well, in-turn offering EV derivatives of the respective model. Earlier, we told you that Tata Motors was open to the idea of developing an EV iteration of the new Tata Punch and now the carmaker has confirmed that the Tata Punch EV is in the conceptualisation phase.

The Tata Altroz EV was showcased at Auto Expo 2020.
The new Tata Punch too shares the ALFA architecture with the Altroz and we already know that the platform is ready for EVs. The company had earlier said that if it sees demand for an EV in this space, it will not hesitate to bring out an electric version of the Punch. While it is too early to comment on the technical specification, Tata has already confirmed that all its future electric vehicles, starting with the Nexon EV, will use the Ziptron powertrain technology. So, the car will come with a Lithium-Ion battery pack which will have IP-67 certification and 8-years warranty.

Tata Motors already building up on its EV range and it launched the most affordable EV - the Tigor EV in the country recently. So if the company decides to undercut the Tigor with another electric car, the Punch could be an ideal candidate.
