Ampere Vehicles, is a Coimbatore-based electric vehicle manufacturer, which has now tied up with diversified engineering company Greaves Cotton. Ampere offers a range of electric scooters in India, with one to three-year warranty and a strong after-sales service network with over 300 Greaves retail stores and in over 5,000 aftermarket outlets in India. In all, Ampere currently offers three different models of electric scooters under the V48 range, Reo and Zeal brand names. Ampere scooters are powered by brushless DC motors supported by lithium-ion battery packs. Ampere has over 150 dealerships across India with presence in 14 states. The company claims to have sold over 35,000 electric scooters in India. Ampere has its R&D facility in Coimbatore and this is where it develops the electric motor along with the charger and the battery controller. But, the battery packs are sourced from Taiwan and China.
