Maharashtra Government Puts Investments Of Great Wall Motors & Other Chinese Companies On Hold
The recent face-off between the Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh has started to show effect outside the border. As the sentiment to boycott Chinese products has been gaining traction, the Maharashtra government has announced that it has decided to hold back three Chinese investments in the state. These include the investments from Great Wall Motors (GWM), BeiqiFoton Motor and Hengli Engineering. The major investments worth Rs. 5000 crore were announced as part of Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 last week, and saw the GWM sign a virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government.

2020-21 Formula E Provisional Calendar Announced
Formula E has announced the provisional calendar for 2020-21 that was approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council last week. While the current season is set to resume in August with back-to-back races in Berlin, Germany, the next season of the electric motorsport series will be held only through 2021. The championship would normally begin in November, culminating in July the next year. The 2020-21 Formula campaign will now see its first race on January 16, with the Santiago e-Prix becoming the opening round of the championship. It also gains the FIA World Championship status for the seventh season.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Shuts Plant Again After 2 Workers Test Positive For COVID-19
The Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) plant in Bidadi, Karnataka has been shut once again after two employees tested positive for COVID-19, the automaker has confirmed. The two employees had last attended work on June 7 and June 16, 2020, respectively. After suspending operations at the end of March due to the nationwide lockdown, the plant resumed operations on May 26, 2020. A statement from the company said it had taken all necessary precautions to maintain social distancing and with limited workforce. Toyota becomes the third major automaker after employees at Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai employees were also tested positive for Coronavirus.

Unlock 1.0: Maharashtra RTO Resumes Vehicle Registrations, Issuing Driving Licences
The Maharashtra Regional Transport Office (RTO) has resumed the registration of vehicles and issuing driving licences in the state. The Transport Commissioner's office issued a circular on June 16, 2020, to resume operations across its 50 offices across the state, and will resume services including issuing licences, secondary licencing, vehicle registration and transfer. The division had temporarily shut operations after the nationwide lockdown was announced in March this year, and has resumed operations after nearly three months of inactivity. The offices will have to follow social distancing protocols to contain the spread of Coronavirus, according to the circular.

Three years since the iconic Jeep brand entered the Indian market, the American automaker has announced its foray in the pre-owned car business with SelectedForYou. The new initiative will see FCA India buy, exchange and sell pre-owned Jeep cars, specifically the Compass SUV. With nearly 60,000 Jeep Compass SUVs on the road, customers have the opportunity to trade in any existing vehicle for either a new or a certified pre-owned Jeep Compass. FCA India introduced SelectedForYou as a pilot program in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad last year, which is now operational in 42 dealerships across the country. The pre-owned sales will expand to 65 outlets by August this year.

Formula E To Conclude 2019/20 Season With 6 Back-To-Back Races In Berlin This August
The Coronavirus pandemic forced the ongoing 2019-20 Formula E season to be temporarily suspended, but the electric racing series is coming back to conclude the current season. Formula E has announced that the 2019-20 season will resume in August this year with three doubleheaders in quick succession. All the six races will be held at the historic German airfield in, each using a different track configuration, allowing teams to apply distinct strategies all the six races. The three doubleheaders are scheduled on August 5/6, 8/9 and 12/13, this year.

The 2020 Harley-Davidson Street Rod Vivid Black is now priced at Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and is about Rs. 68,000 cheaper than the other colour options on the motorcycle including grey, orange and white. The Harley-Davidson Street Rod shares its underpinnings with the entry-level Street 750 in the brand's line-up and is the sportier derivative with a more aggressive riding stance and higher compression ratio from the same V-Twin motor for more power.

Tesla Model S Becomes The First-Ever Electric Vehicle To Breach 644 Km On A Single Charge
Electric car maker Tesla has confirmed that the Model S Long Range Plus has become the first-ever electric car to achieve over 400 miles (644 km) of EPA-rated (US Environment Protection Agency) range. Elon Musk confirmed the development in a series of tweets and also stated that all Tesla Model S Long Range cars sold since January 2020 have a range of 402 miles (647 km) on a single charge, and this is the official confirmation of the same by the company. A statement from Tesla stated that the new EPA-rated range represented a nearly 20 per cent increase in range when compared to the 2019 Tesla Model S 100D with the same battery pack design.
