Verdict

The Honda CB300R is stylish and with you on it, your style quotient too goes up a few notches. It will stand out whether on the move, or when parked somewhere. It is a good option for young riders and people who are returning to riding after a gap. The performance is par for the course when riding in the city but highway runs could be a little uncomfortable. Should you buy one? If you are looking for good performance, extraordinary looks within ₹ 3 lakh then yes, definitely!

Pros Cons Honda CBR650R

Pros

  • Refined inline-four engine with distinctive exhaust note
  • E-Clutch system reduces fatigue and allows clutchless shifts
  • Stable and confidence-inspiring handling
  • Premium build quality with excellent fit and finish

Cons

  • High price compared to key rivals in the segment
  • Lacks advanced IMU-based electronics like cornering ABS
  • Noticeable high-frequency vibrations at highway speeds
  • The pillion seat is small and not suited for long rides

Verdict

The Honda CBR650R positions itself as a balanced middleweight sportbike that prioritises refinement and usability over outright aggression. It is not a track-focused supersport, but a machine designed to deliver performance in a way that remains manageable in daily riding conditions.

In our evaluation, the 649 cc inline-four engine felt smooth and predictable at low speeds, while building strong, linear performance as revs climbed past the mid-range. The E-Clutch system stood out in traffic, removing the need for constant clutch use and making stop-and-go riding significantly easier. The chassis and Showa suspension setup offered a stable, planted feel on highways while remaining manageable in city conditions.

As Sameer summarised,

“CBR650R has a proven track of infusing excitement to the riding experience of both new as well as seasoned riders”
