Mahindra Two-Wheelers has released a teaser image of the upcoming BS6 compliant version of the Mojo 300. The updated motorcycle will finally meet the new emission regulations allowing the company to begin sales once again. The Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS was pulled off the shelves in April this year after the industry's transition to the new norms. The teaser image reveals little about the changes on the motorcycle barring the BS6 badge on the extended tank shroud and the 300 ABS stickering on the side panel. The bike is not expected to feature any major change.
The Mahindra Mojo is now on sale in India with plenty of upgrades, after being pulled off shelves briefly earlier this year. While we told you about bookings being open from July this year, deliveries for the motorcycle have now commenced at dealerships across the country. The 2019 Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS is priced at Rs. 1.88 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which makes it about Rs. 8,000 more expensive than the older version, but there are a host of changes to justify the new pricing. There is now only a single variant of the Mojo on sale with features from XT300 and UT300 variants now mixed into one version. The Mojo is now available in two colour options - black and blue.
The Mahindra Mojo 300 is all set to go back on sale, albeit with the addition of ABS. In fact, the dual-channel ABS-equipped version has started arriving at dealerships and the model sports a number of mechanical changes too apart from the much-needed safety feature. Bookings for the Mojo 300 ABS have commenced at the company's outlets across the country while the launch is scheduled for later this month. The Mojo 300 ABS will also be the only variant to be on sale now, with the XT and UT versions effectively discontinued.
The Mahindra Mojo 300 is currently off the sales shelves as the motorcycle is yet to receive the now mandatory Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) system. However, that could change soon as the manufacturer is testing the ABS-equipped Mojo 300 and the model was spotted recently and seems almost ready to hit the showroom. The bike in question is the Mahindra Mojo UT300 that was introduced last year as the more affordable derivative of the Mojo XT300. It is likely that the UT300 will get the ABS version first, and will be followed up with the XT300 later in the year.
The discounts are available only on the Mahindra Mojo UT 300 and do not extend to the XT 300 variant that was introduced last year. Both versions draw power from the same 295 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. On the UT 300, the motor is tuned for 27 bhp and 30 Nm of peak torque, while the XT 300 a carburetted version belting out 23 bhp and 25 Nm of peak torque. Both versions come with a 6-speed transmission.
Peugeot Two-Wheelers is now a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group and it was only expected that both brands will be collaborating to make two-wheelers at some point. While an official announcement on that front is yet to happen, we may have caught a glimpse of the collaboration at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The Peugeot P2X Cafe Racer and Roadster concepts were revealed at the Annual event, but what's more interesting is that the models use the Mahindra Mojo as the donor motorcycle.
An electric prototype of the Mahindra Mojo was recently spotted testing in Bengaluru. The electric bike was spotted testing near the Bosch factory in the city, hinting towards a possible variant coming up in the future. Speculations also suggest that the Mojo Electric could have been built by a component manufacturer with the bike used as a base to test its technology. While little is known about the Mojo electric version, the model just might be Mahindra 2Wheelers revival for the touring motorcycle that went on sale in 2015. The image surfaced a few notable details on the Mahindra Mojo electric prototype that certainly has our interests piqued.
