Amazon.com Inc Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos on Thursday pledged to make the largest U.S. e-commerce company net carbon neutral by 2040 and to buy 100,000 electric delivery vans from a start-up, as employees and consumers around the world plan protests to address climate change. Cutting emissions is a challenging goal for Amazon, which delivers 10 billion items a year and has a massive transportation and data centre footprint. "We know we can do it and we know we have to do it," Bezos said.
Tata Motors has confirmed that it will launch the Tigor EV with extended range next week and it could be available for private buyers as well. There are no details available on pricing as yet.
Tata Motors is all-set to take its EV game ahead with its latest EV powertrain technology. The Ziptron will power a range of Tata's future EVs and carandbike can confirm that the first two models will be the electric iteration of the Altroz and Nexon. The Company will launch its first EV based on the Ziptron EV tech in 2020 and the next will follow in 2021. The Ziptron tech uses lithium-ion cells which provide a minimum drive range of 250 kms on a single charge.

Encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the state, the government of Tamil Nadu has announced the Electric Vehicle Policy draft with a number of recommendations and changes for the EV sector. The big takeaway from the announcement will be the 100 per cent exemption on registration fees for EVs until the end of 2022. According to the policy draft, the state government plans to become a centre for the EV ecosystem, not just in demand but manufacturing as well. MG Motor India had already said that it will launch its all-electric SUV the eZS in India in 2019 and now the company has teased the car on its social media page. The MG eZS will be one of the first-ever fully electric SUVs in India when it is launched. The eZS will be MG's second launch in India after the upcoming MG Hector. The company further said that its electric vehicles will get over-the-air (OTA) technology and would go over 300 km in a single charge from its lithium-ion battery. MG is yet to announce the exact specifications for the eZS.
Travel solutions provider for corporate Aaveg has announced the induction of the Tata Tigor EVs in its fleet for corporate mobility. The firm says that the decision to switch to electric vehicles was made in a bid to create a pollution-free environment and "leave a better legacy for the generations to come." Aaveg plans to replace 5-10 per cent of its existing fleet with electric vehicles over the next six months and up to 50 per cent in the next five years. China has reported a decline of 16 per cent in electric vehicle sales for the month of August. Last month the cumulative sales of all pure-electric, fuel-celled, and plugin hybrids vehicles stood at 85,000 units the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, compared to 100,000+ vehicles sold during the same month in 2018.
