- The company took four test mules in tough, cold conditions.
- Expect the car to come to India by 2023.
Earlier this month, MG Motor revealed its upcoming electric car, the new MG4 EV based on the brand's new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) battery architecture. It is the first model to be based on this new platform which can spawn vehicles with wheelbases ranging between 2,650 mm to 3,100 mm. MG states this new architecture is designed to maximise battery efficiency and to assess this, the company took four test mules in tough, cold conditions to check out the output in all its driving modes.

The MG4 EV will come equipped with a 51-kWh battery developing 168 bhp powertrain, or a 64-kWh battery pack churning 202 bhp, powering the rear wheels with the ability to go from 0-100 kmph sprint in under 8 seconds and a top speed of 160 kmph. Reports suggest the MG4 EV will also be offered with all-wheel drive options with even more stronger battery packs. As far as range is concerned, the MG4 EV offers a WTLP-claimed 350 km and 450 km on a single charge depending on the battery pack.

The new platform also offers more space, and so the MG4 EV measures 4,287 mm long, 1,836 mm wide, and 1,504 mm tall. This also allows for a unique styling of the car that is quite aggressive and is quite evident in the images revealed. Unlike the MG ZS EV, the MG4 EV has a completely different face than the rest of the cars from the company's stable. It is cleaner and the area for the front grille is in fact simple & clean while the nose swoops downwards instead of swooping upwards like the MG ZS EV. The simplicity is continued with sleeker-looking headlamps with vertical LED DRLs. At the back, the strong character lines are continued from the profile, and chisels towards the rear with connected tail lamps completed by a double-rear roof spoiler.
