Mercedes reported deliveries of 4,022 cars in the first quarter of 2022 and with over 4,000 orders still pending.

Maruti Suzuki India's market share has come down to an eight-year low, at 43.65 per cent, in Financial Year 2021-22. At the same time rival Tata Motors has reported a rise in market share, which stands at 12.14 per cent, its highest ever in the last thirteen years.

Between April 2021 and March 2022, the auto industry collectively retailed 1,63,75,799 vehicles in India. Compared to 2,17,78,574 units sold during the pre-COVID FY 2019-20, the industry saw a decline of nearly 25 per cent.

Sales data reveals that China and the US remain the world's largest auto markets, while India stood in fourth place in terms of volumes at the end of 2021.

Ather Energy sold 2,591 units in March 2022, a rise of 120 per cent year-on-year, while the previous month also saw the company rollout its 25,000th 450X electric scooter.

Honda 2Wheelers India Saw a 2.8 per cent growth over last month's figures as it closed the month with 3,21,343 units sold.
