Tata Tigor EV car&bike Expert Take
The Tata Tigor EV is more than just an electric version of a compact sedan. It is the car that effectively democratised high-voltage EV technology in India. While the Nexon EV grabbed the headlines, the Tigor EV brought the sophisticated Ziptron architecture to a more accessible price point without compromising on the core DNA of a "real" car. After putting it through a rigorous 400 km test cycle across Mumbai’s coastal roads and the climbs of the Lonavala ghats, our verdict is clear: this is the most adaptable entry point into the world of electric mobility for the Indian family.
As Shams Raza Naqvi rightly says, “The Tigor EV is a very significant car for Tata Motors because it targets the heart of the Indian passenger car market.” This isn't a vehicle that feels like an experiment; it feels like a mature, well-engineered solution for the urban commuter who wants to skip the fuel pump forever. It offers a silent, vibration-free experience that makes its petrol-powered siblings feel archaic.
Shams Raza Naqvi brings over sixteen years of experience reviewing automobiles across India, with more than 300,000 km of testing across a range of vehicles, from budget hatchbacks to flagship luxury SUVs.
For this drive, he put the Tata Tigor EV through a comprehensive three-day testing schedule. The route spanned from the lanes of South Mumbai to the corridors of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. We observed the vehicle’s battery depletion levels during a two-hour gridlock and tested its high-speed stability on the downhill sections of the Amrutanjan Bridge. This "Expert Context" ensures that the data points provided in this Tata Tigor EV Expert review are based on real-world usage, not just brochure specifications.
Pros
- Zero tailpipe emissions and a silent drive
- Instant 170 Nm torque advantage
- Proven four-star GNCAP safety rating
- Lowest running cost in the segment
- Premium eight-speaker Harman audio setup
Cons
- Real-world range limited for tours
- Slightly firm ride over ruts
- Raised rear floor affects seating
- Charging capped at 50 kW
Verdict
The Tata Tigor EV is a landmark vehicle in India. It takes the anxiety out of EV ownership by offering a familiar form factor and a powertrain suited for the urban jungle. In this Tata Tigor EV expert review, it has been proven that you don't need to spend Rs 25 lakh to get a "proper" electric car experience.
As Shams Raza Naqvi puts it, “The Tigor EV has adapted well to today’s times.” It is not a highway marathoner, but for the smart urban family, it is one of the most logical purchases in the market today.

- Excellent car of future5.0XT Plus [2019-2021](Electric)PerformanceMileageComfortCost of OwnershipValue for MoneySafetyStylingSales SupportI never thought that any car in EV segment can also be so affordable and it came through Indian company. I loved this car, and it's ownership also never disappointed too. It's good for going office to home for me and also great for weekend nearby shopping and visit. The only thing I need to think is about long tours, but if you plan stays and have hopping journey it is still good option.By DeepakPosted on: Jul 04, 2020 03:16 PM00
- Tigor EV that keeps you in a burner during summer3.0XZ Plus(Electric)PerformanceMileageComfortCost of OwnershipValue for MoneySafetyStylingSales SupportEven I support Tata's vision. The idea should be quality and not quantity. Tata might be good at vehicle safety but technology-wise they are far behind other Indian brands. Last month (11 June 2022), I bought TATA TIGOR EV top model (XZ+) almost priced at Rs.15 lakh. From second day onwards the AC stopped functioning and twice the dealer picked up the car and they are unable to rectify the issue. The service centre claimed that they're getting regular complaints for the model. The technical guys from Tata motors tried solving the problem but all in vain. My car is laying for more than 20 days at TATA service center and here I am paying EMI for it without using the car and on the other hand TATA and top executives are acquiring properties at my cost. I mailed TATA motor OEM and even Mr. Ratan Tata but there was no response or remedy for the same. My humble request please launch after complete testing of the vehicle and not in a half baked condition. We bought the car just because of trust in TATA brand and Mr. Ratan Tata at face value. People who are still not convinced about my state, and still support the company; I am ready to sell my car at Rs.10k less than the current price it's just done 150 km and mostly driven by Tata people for testing purpose. I hope TATA people read this and I at least expect them to contact or reply. PS. Please buy 2-4 battery fans as an accessories to keep you cool.By Mrs.Sarawathi AnandavelooPosted on: Jun 05, 2022 06:56 PM00
