It was the home grown product that appealed to the masses with the Tata Tigor EV leading the vote count for the Viewer's Choice EV of the Year. Tata's most affordable EV rubbed shoulders with luxury EVs from European manufacturers with rivals for the awards including the new Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron and e-tron GT, and the Jaguar I-Pace.

While it was on sale for some years now, the Tigor EV received a major update in 2021 updating styling in line with the Tigor facelift and replacing the old 72V electric powertrain with the more powerful Ziptron EV powertrain technology. The electric sedan comes with a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery with a new permanent magnet synchronous electric motor which makes 73 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. Tata claims the EV will sprint 0-60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. The new battery pack gives the EV a claimed range of 306km.

The Tigor EV supports both regular AC and DC fast charging with the latter allowing you to charge from 0 to 80 percent in about 65 minutes. The AC home charger meanwhile takes about 8.5 hours for the same.

Prices for the Tigor EV range from Rs. 12.24 lakh to Rs. 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom)
