Ford Ecosport! Does what a car has to.

    Sidharth Reddy
Ford. We all know what comes to mind when we listen to this name. The solid build, handling and the performance that just puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. Ford Ecosport is no different and has ticked all the boxes mentioned above. In todays car market where every other manufacturer is offering plethora of bells and whistles, you just seem to forget what a car really has to do. Drive well and has to be safe. This is what the EcoSport just does. We'll divide the review into four broad categories. 1) Build Quality- Exterior & Interior 2) Handling and Performance 3) Safety 4) Features 1) Build Quality Ford Ecosport is no different from a regular ford offering a rock solid build quality. The design of the chasis, the sheet thickness, the weight of the door panels and the solid noise you hear when you close the doors is reassuring. No matter what, this car won't let a scratch on you unless it is a major accident. Coming to the interior build quality, you can expect same levels of quality as the exterior barring few hard palstics near the arm rests in this particular variant. Apart from that the interior too is very well built. I have driven around 1.5 lakh kms within 4 years of my purchase and there is not even a rattling sound from my dashboard. Such is the quality being offered in this vehicle and most of the my driving is on bumpy roads itself. At the end of the day, one does feel confident after spending some time with the EcoSport. 2) Handling & Performance We all know what the previous generation figo was, the hydraulic steering and the handling made it a drivers car and no matter what it always puts a smile on your face when you drive it every other time. Same is the case with the ecosport, it has some amazing road manners, sure there is a little bit of body roll but it is a compact SUV so you can't complaint much. The steering is light for the city traffic and once you hit the highway, the steering nicely puts on weight and gives you more than enough confidence to cruise through at triple digit speeds. Coming to suspension, the suspension is a bit on the stiffer side. You won't notice tiny pot holes when you're cruising but those speed breakers will certainly make their presence felt. There is minimal wind noise and tyre noise that creeps inside the cabin. It is surprising to see that once you roll over your windows, the cabin is well insulated from the outside noise. The diesel clatter is barely audible but the grunt does make you grin when you are pushing it hard. The engine is not as refined and the Hyundai diesel engines which are assumed to be the benchmark when it comes to refinement in this segment. Coming to the efficiency on highways it was around 20kmpl with some high spirited driving in between and in city it returns around 16-18kmpl based on road and traffic conditions. All in all this is a great car to drive without any hesitation. 3) Safety Ecosport has scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP rating which is not a wonder given the solid build quality snd safety features on offer. This variant offers 2 air bags, ABS and EBD and higher variants like the Titanium plus offering 6 air bags with traction control, Hill stop assist etc. Hence on the safety front ecosport is a no brainer in this segment given the price point of this variant( 1.5 diesel Trend). 4) Features Now this variant may not offer you features like Push Button start stop, keyless entry, Sun Roof, Automatic Air conditioning, Rear AC vents etc but if you can take a while and think, How many times do we actually use the Sun Roof in a polluted environment like ours? Keyless entry will be like a curse when your battery gives up suddenly and you can't even open your car door and able to start it. I'm not saying these features are not useful, they are. It is nice to keep the keys in your pocket and just unlock the car and drive away but this shouldn't be a deal breaker in my opinion. Air conditioning is very powerfull and believe me, you don't need rear AC vents. When it comes to Auto AC, it is a preference. Even this should not be a deal breaker. I have a Honda City VX which offer all the bells and whistles mentioned above but believe me, I never felt like I am missing any particular feature when I was driving Trend Variant Of Ecosport. All the necessary features such as touch screen infotainment system, speaker system, Bluetooth Digital instrument cluster showing all the basic info like distance to empty, average speed, average fuel economy, driving time etc, all 4 electronic windows with one push and anti pinch functionality for the drivers side, Auto Dimming IRVM, electronically adjustable ORVMs, Rear Wiper washer with defogger etc all the useful features have been offered. Overall I would rate this car a solid 8.5 out of 10 for the price it is offered and the low service costs. Believe me, this particular variant is a no brainer if you are in the market for a compact SUV under 10 lakh price bracket that perfectly does what a car has to do instead of offering all the fancy features.

PLEASE DONT BUY FORD ECOSPORTS NEW MODELs AFTER 2016..

    Rajendra Khole
NEW..FORD HAS MADE SUSPENSIONS VERY HARD..THE VEHICLE ROCKS DIAGONALLY ...SOME MAY CALL IT ROCK SIDEWAYS OR ROLLS...THE ROCKING IS SO BAD THAT YOU FEEL LIKE RIDING A BULLOCK CART..TO CONFIRM YOU MAY CHEK THE FOOT MATTS THEY SHIFT TO CENTRAL AXIS ALONG LENGTH...HAVE DEVELOPED BACK ACHE DUE TO HARD SUSPENSIONS ...AND COMPLAINING TO FORD IS USELESS. M.SUDALAI IS HEAD OF SERVICE BUT NOT A TECHNICAL MAN SO ITS LIKE ASKING A FISH TO CLIMB A TREE..AND THEIR CEO IS LIKE...M.M.S..NEVER REPLY OR TAKE THINGS SERIOUSLY TO SOLVE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT ...THEY DONT CARE NOR THEY WANT TO IMPROVE....THEY JUST DIRECT YOU TO SERVICE STATION & THEIR SERVICE MANAGERS ARE HELPLESS AND CAN ONLY SAY SORRY...ULTIMATELY THE CUSTOMER GETS FED UP OF COMPLAINING....

Amazing stability and strong build quality

    Jayakrishnan T.R
I own a Titanium plus sports petrol and the car is really stable at high speeds and breaking is good. The cabin noise is minimal. ESC helps a lot in control and stability. However having LED headlights would have been good. Overall the package is good for 13 lakhs.

    Low profile tyre always burst

    Suraj Singh
I own Ecosport Signature since 2018 and the got burst 3 times within a span of 27000km. First it burst @ 10000 km after that @19000 km and now @26000km. The service center people make you pay 50% at the start and then 100% for the tyre. Never buy this vehicle. This is not due to personal frustration but if you want to save your money and hassel of visiting the service center again and again avoid buying Ford car with low profile tyres. Also they claim a mileage of 22 kmpl but reality is 15 kmpl.

    Best CSUV in it's segment

    Abhishek
I had eye on ES since it was launched and eventually saved enough to get one. Is it pricey ? Yes but not for what it offers. I won an Titanium Plus AT. The safety, the handling and the good Torque converter gearbox just knocks out any competition completely. If anyone says that the AMT models of competition is better than what we have here, I can't just take that person seriously. Be it a family usage or someone who is an enthusiast, this is the best you get in this segment. Only negatives I can think of is the bland MID, at times annoyance of side opening boot door, and rear space is for 2 people to sit comfortably, not more. Wish people understood better how good is this product and wish Ford saw better sales Numbers.

    Love driving it :)

    Anup Kolambkar
I can assure you this car wont let you down. Comfort, style, handling and built quality all are great. Mileage is on a lower side but you can expect that if you are going for a petrol engine of 1.5 liter. Engine is very smooth. Ideal for long drives with big luggage as ample boot space. I am a proud owner of this beautiful machine :)

    Superb performer on long driving

    Ganesh
Its terrible performance on long drive with comfort and speed. No doubt, this car beat all SUV's of this segment. Driving and sitting controls and enough space for back side passenger also.

Complete value for money. Stylish and amazing car.

    Mohd Yunus
I am driving this car since 2013 and this car is excellent car i have drive so far. After sale wonderful. Maintainance cost is low in diesal even after 4 year. Lower point is only milage in city driving. Complete safe car as this is only car gives you six air bags in this segment. Ride quality and built is awesone and now new ecosport launched. I would love to buy again as few additions which were missed earlier is complete now.
