Ford Ecosport VS Vitara Brezza, Nexon, WR-V And TUV300: Price Comparison

The 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift has been launched in India. Introductory pricing on the 2017 Ford Ecosport Facelift has remained unchanged and is exactly the same as compared to the prices of the pre-facelift outgoing model that was originally launched in India in 2013. The new 2017 Ford Ecosport comes with a range of updates that includes a new front end look with new headlamps, fog lamps, LED daytime running lights and a new grille. Other changes on the exterior include new 17-inch alloy wheels, new tail lamps and an updated rear bumper. The new Ecosport also features several important upgrades to the interior. This includes the new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment setup that comes with Ford's SYNC3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ford Ecosport now also comes with a leather interior package on the top of the line model. So lets see how it compares with its chief competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and Mahindra TUV300 in terms of pricing.

Out of the five subcompact SUVs on the market today, the 2017 Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V come with petrol variants whereas the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza only get diesel variants. The manual petrol Ford Ecosport price ranges from Rs 7.31-9.71 lakh and is available in three variants. Comparatively, the Honda WR-V starts at a higher price segment of Rs 7.66 lakh for the base variant but the fully loaded version is cheaper at Rs 8.88 lakh. The Tata Nexon though is substantially cheaper than both these SUVs with prices ranging from Rs 5.85-8.59 lakh. While the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza does not have a petrol version as of today, there is one in the works with the 1-litre turbocharged petrol Boosterjet engine that powers the Baleno RS.

Diesel Manual Price Comparison
All five subcompact SUVs are offered with diesel variants. While the 2017 Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra TUV300 offer 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza offers a 1.3-litre diesel. Just like with the petrol, the diesel powered Tata Nexon is the most affordable of the range here too with prices ranging from Rs 6.85-9.44 lakh. The Ford Ecosport in comparison is priced at Rs 8.01-10.67 lakh making it most expensive SUV in the range, especially if one considers the top of the line variants. In comparison the hotselling Vitara Brezza is priced at Rs 7.24-9.91 lakh. The Honda WR-V and the Mahindra TUV300 are priced at Rs 8.71-9.91 and Rs 7.68-9.90 lakh respectively.

(Mahindra TUV300)
Petrol And Diesel Automatic Price Comparison
The Ford Ecosport is the only subcompact SUV that one can buy today that comes with a petrol automatic option. The 2017 Ford Ecosport petrol gets a 6-speed conventional automatic gearbox mated with paddle shifters and is available in two variants Trend+ and Titanium+. The price for the automatic petrol Ford Ecosport Trend+ is Rs 9.34 lakh while the fully loaded Titanium+ is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh. In comparison, the TUV300 is available with an AMT (automated manual transmission) mated to a diesel engine. Prices for the TUV300 AMT ranges from Rs 9.34-10.65 lakh. The Tata Nexon subcompact SUV will soon get an automatic gearbox or rather an AMT option with both the petrol and the diesel engines too.
