BMW India Launches 1 Series M Performance Edition

In a bid to boost its sales in quite a competitive market condition, BMW has launched the 1 Series M Performance Edition in India. However, only 111 units of the special edition will be available at all BMW dealerships till July 25, 2014. The limited edition gets a handful of exterior updates such as a black front grill, performance rear spoiler with fins, BMW M aerodynamics, performance racing stripes and M Performance lettering on the exteriors. However, no mechanical changes have been made to the vehicle.
The BMW 1 Series M Performance Edition shares the engines with the regular model. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine, offering an output of 136bhp and a torque of 220Nm. It is claimed to return a fuel economy of 20.58Km/h. The car touches the 100Km/h mark in just 8.6 seconds. The 1 Series M Performance Edition diesel derives power from a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, twin-power turbo unit that pumps out a maximum power of 143bhp with 320Nm of torque.
At a time when Mercedes is doing well with its A-Class and Audi is set to enter the sub-Rs. 25 lakh segment, BMW 1-Series' special edition might help the company do well against competiton.
Pan-India ex-showroom prices are as follows:
The BMW 116i M Performance Edition: INR 22,65,000
The BMW 118d M Performance Edition: INR 25,60,000
The BMW 118d Sport M Performance Edition: INR 28,55,000
