Car Tuner Brabus Turns To Motorcycles With KTM 1290 Duke Based Model

- Brabus is known for performance tuning Maybach and Mercedes cars
- The Brabus 1300 R will be based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R
- Carbon fibre parts, slightly different gearing expected on Brabus 1300 R
High-performance car tuning company Brabus seems all set to branch out to motorcycles, with the Brabus 1300 R. n a trademark application filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in August, 2021, the firm requested the use of the Brabus 1300 R name for "Motorcycles; structural parts for motorcycles; parts and fittings for land vehicles; two-wheeled motor vehicles." After an expedited objection period, EUIPO granted Brabus the moniker on November, 24, 2021. The company is expected to foray into performance tuned motorcycles with the 1300 R based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR.

The KTM 1290 Super Duke RR gets higher-spec suspension, carbon fibre components and revised electronics
The KTM 1290 Super Duke RR is a lighter, more focussed, limited edition motorcycle based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The RR is the result of KTM's R&D department going all out to increase performance and agility of the quite manic 1290 Super Duke R. The RR is 9 kg lighter than the Super Duke R, with a kerb weight of 180 kg, while the 1,301 cc, LC8, 75-degree, v-twin makes around 180 bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque. KTM has used extensive carbon fibre components, which has helped shave off weight.

The KTM 1290 Super Duke RR takes the base KTM 1290 Super Duke R and adds better components and carbon fibre bits.
While Brabus may not tinker with the engine of the 1290 Super Duke RR much, we can expect to see a lot of carbon fibre attachments, including the bodywork, along with a very high sticker price. And apart from the Brabus 1300 R's weight loss plan, the dimensions are also likely to be changed mildly. So far, though, there's only the trademark application to imagine what may finally be the Brabus 1300 R. But with the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR as the base template, it's certainly something worth looking out for!
