David Brown Speedback revealed

We told you last month about British sports car company, David Brown Automotive, teasing their first car by way of some computer generated images and now, it's finally here. The company unveiled its first ever model at a private event in London.
The British car manufacturer has christened it 'Speedback' and it is a handcrafted 2+2 coupe. When you look at it, you immediately understand the reference the company is trying to make to classic GT cars from the sixties but this comes equipped with modern technology.
Both the chassis and the powertrain are carried over directly from a Jaguar XKR and you can expect a brilliant exhaust note once it's fired up. So, it gets the XK's aluminium spaceframe chassis and the 5.0 litre, 503 bhp churning supercharged V8 with a six-speed autobox.
It all began with a clay model of the Speedback which was made by chief designer Alan Mobberly after which it was digitally rendered to accurately make the aluminium skin. And this blend of traditional styling and materials with modern techniques is a running theme throughout the car.
Things like the wire wheel really take you back to the good ol' days but the wheels are especially made for David Brown and are actually the widest wire wheel in production. You might think that even the headlamps are all retro but they house LED technology.
The Speedback will make its official debut at the Top Marques show in Monaco from April 17 to 20, and the price will be announced there as well.
