Philips Launches In-Car Air Purifier in India

With growing concerns over air pollution in the country, air purifiers are gaining momentum in terms of sales. And Philips' automotive division Lumileds has taken this opportunity to launch an in-car air purifier, the Philips GoPure Compact 110, priced at Rs. 7,999.
The Philips GoPure Compact 110 is designed specifically for the Indian market and its filtration technology claims to remove up to 99 per cent of in-car air pollution.
The product consists of a select filter that eliminates particulate matter and ultra-fine particles. This includes cigarette smoke, pollens, dust, airborne virus, and bacteria.

Simple and easy to use, the device has to be connected to a power socket and one filter can last for up to 1 year, depending on its use. Replaceable filters cost Rs. 1500.
Initially, the Philips GoPure Compact 110 will be available only as an aftermarket product through online portals but the company is in talks with leading car manufacturers to make this device as standard fitment in a few variants.
"Currently, we are launching this device as an aftermarket product to be sold through the online channel," Lumileds India MD Rajiv Khosla told reporters. "As the market evolves, we may launch more variants of this device and also sell the product through other retail channels."
Khosla did not share details about the revenue the company expects from this product, saying, "It is too early to put a number on the sales."
The GoPure Compact 110 will be imported from the company's manufacturing plants in China.
