Will Volkswagen Enter F1?

With Honda joining hands with McLaren for the 2015 F1 Season, there has been a surge in the interest shown by other manufacturers as well. The latest from the rumour mill claims that now Volkswagen is thinking about joining the F1 bandwagon.
It was just a few days back that Mercedes' top-boss Dieter Zetsche said that he would like to welcome both, BMW and Audi, to the F1 arena to compete against Mercedes. After having won the recent F1 Drivers' and Constructors' title, Mercedes will be looking forward to some competition and Zetsche seems to want its arch-rivals from the automotive industry to take this battle to the circuit.
It is rumoured that the former Ferrari team Principal Stefano Domenicali is at the helm of affairs in bringing VW to F1 and is said to be studying the feasibility of VW entering the F1 arena. All these rumours fall into place when you start putting the jigsaw puzzle together. Domenicali joined Audi in October this year, but the company said that he would play no role in the Le Mans team.
Rather, he would be looking into service and mobility, though everyone knows his knowledge about F1 knows no bounds. The appointment, therefore, spurred rumours of Audi coming to F1 but it was not to be.
VW is no stranger to motorsports. It has been at the helm of affairs ever since it entered the World Rally Championship in a full-fledged capacity in 2013. So, there is no doubt that even if they do plan to come to the F1 scene, they will come with their own car and drivers and will be well prepared to take on rivals.
