India Yamaha had launched the new Yamaha MT-15 on March 15, 2019, with a price of Rs. 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The MT-15 is the most affordable addition to Yamaha's MT series in India. In the first month of its launch, the new Yamaha MT-15 clocked sales of 5,203 units. The full-faired Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0 continues to do well in the sales charts, and in March this year, the R15 sold more than 9,000 units, a growth of 81 per cent in sales over the same month a year ago.

The Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which puts out 19 bhp of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The 6-speed gearbox is also the same as the R15's, but the final drive ratio is different to give the MT-15 more pulling power at low and mid revs. The MT-15's maximum speed is rated at 129 kmph, and with a kerb weight of 138 kg, it's 4 kg lighter than its full-faired sibling, the R15. With the MT-15 getting off to a good start on the sales charts, the latest offer will likely enthuse more customers to walk out of a Yamaha showroom with a MT-15 now.
