C&B Verdict on Hyundai Kona Electric
car&bike Expert Rating
The Kona Electric is clean and green. The performance is at par with other cars in the same price bracket and the list of features is long too. The looks are quirky and might polarise opinion but we quite like it. Getting the Kona Electric to India is a bold move and a step in the right direction. It is a premium product, no doubt. But the very fact that now, there exists a choice for even a minority customer base, is testimony to the fact that India is indeed moving towards electric mobility.

In terms of design and styling, the new Hyundai Kona Electric is largely inspired by the regular petrol/diesel version of the Kona compact SUV, except for the face which gets the signature electric vehicle face. In fact, Hyundai has added a nice pattern up front in order to mimic the cascading grille on the regular Kona SUV. This is where even the charging port in hidden. On either side, the electric SUV features Bi-Function LED headlamps, while the LED daytime running lamps with indicators are positioned above, flanking the sleek silver slat with the Hyundai logo at the centre.

The Kona Electric also comes with a new front bumper with air intakes at both ends, and a larger one at the centre to cool down the wheels. The SUV also gets a set of smart-looking 17-inch alloy wheels with fat claddings for the wheel arches, sleek wraparound LED taillamps, and separate light units featuring rear indicators and reflectors.

On the inside, instead of going for a futuristic design Hyundai has kept things simple as the cabin is largely identical to the regular version of the Kona SUV. The SUV comes with leather seats as standard along with leather-wrapped steering wheel, soft-touch material for the dashboard, sporty metal pedals and a fully digital instrument cluster. The well laid-out dashboard gets displays that tell you driving range, and power status of the battery, in addition to a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation and voice recognition.

Other cabin features include – smart electric sunroof, button type shift by wire technology, heated and ventilated seats, 10-way adjustable power seat for the driver, and electric parking brake among others. The Kona Electric will also come with a host of safety features like - 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill assist, rear camera with guidelines, tyre pressure monitor, and more, all offered as a standard fitment.

The battery can be fully charged in seven to eight hours and using a fast-charger can charge the battery up to 80 per cent in under an hour. Hyundai customers will be provided with a portable charger and an AC wall box charger. The portable charger will be able to plug into any three-pin 15 Amp socket and charge for a top up to 50 km in less than three hours. The 7.2 kW wall box charger can top up the vehicle within one hour of running up to 50 km. The Kona Electric in India will get a 100 kW motor which sends power to the front wheels and the output is equivalent of 131 bhp and 395 Nm of peak torque available from the word go! Globally, the Kona also gets a 150 kW motor, which makes about 200 bhp and 395 Nm of peak torque. The India-spec car can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 9.7 seconds, which makes it quite quick for an SUV.

Currently the Hyundai Kona Electric has no rivals in the Indian market, however, MG Motor India is currently planning to bring it its first electric SUV for the Indian market, which will possibly be in the same segment. As for the Hyundai Kona Electric, the SUV is priced in India at Rs. 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and comes with a vehicle warranty of 3 years/Unlimited Km, and the car’s high power Li-ion battery comes with an 8 years/160,000 Km warranty. The Hyundai will also have a dedicated EV care manager at the showrooms and also offer 24x7 vehicle to vehicle charging support for the ease of customers.

    Hyundai Kona Electric Expert Review

The Hyundai Kona is something that you absolutely must be familiar with if you have the slightest bit of curiosity about how people will travel in the future. The public's perception of electric vehicles is already shifting as a direct result of the introduction of this ground breaking automobile. The Hyundai Kona is packed with numerous useful features, such as a top speed of an astonishing 150 miles per hour and a range of up to 600 miles on a single charge of the battery. Additionally, it was developed with safety in mind, as evidenced by the inclusion of technologies like as automatic emergency braking and monitoring for blind spots. If you are searching for a new car that will transform the way you think about electric vehicles, then the Hyundai Kona is definitely something that you should check out if you are in the market for a new vehicle.

    How is the Design?

The Hyundai Kona is a stylish automobile that runs solely on electric power and is ideal for individuals who adore the practicality and positive effects that electric vehicles have on the environment. This vehicle has an estimated range of 124 miles, which means that it is capable of taking you wherever within the city limits as well as to the suburbs.

Hyundai says the Kona is designed with a "lifestyle focus." This means it's supposed to be enjoyable to drive, not just practical. The company says this is evident in the car's exterior design. The Kona is built on Hyundai's new platform, which they say improves ride quality and handling. The interior of the car looks like something out of a futuristic movie. There are lots of soft-touch surfaces and high-quality materials used throughout. One feature that stands out is the dashboard display which features a large TFT screen that can show different information such as battery level or range remaining.

The one drawback to the Kona's design is its small trunk capacity. It can hold up to only two bags, one of which has to be very small in size. Hyundai says this was done deliberately so people wouldn't have to bring unnecessary things with them when they go on trips. Another downside of the Kona’s design is that it doesn't have an available engine type yet. Hyundai plans to offer both a gasoline and electric version of the car, but for now only the electric model exists.

The Kona has a very attractive beginning price, which is one of its many strong points. The price of this vehicle, which is about ₹28.94 lakh, is far lower than that of other fully electric vehicles now available on the market. The Kona is an affordable electric car that, in addition to boasting some fantastic features, differentiates itself from other electric cars currently available on the market today. To start, the battery can be charged to a maximum of 150 kilometres in just 30 minutes thanks to its lightning-fast charging mechanism.

There is no need to look any farther than the Hyundai Kona if you are interested in purchasing an all-electric vehicle that is not only reasonably priced but also fashionable.

    How does it perform?

In 2017, Hyundai presented the Hyundai Kona to the public as a more environmentally friendly alternative for motorists who were interested in purchasing an electric automobile. The battery that powers the Kona has a capacity of 68 kWh, and it enables the vehicle to drive up to 124 kilometres on a single charge. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in ten seconds and has a top speed of 95 miles per hour.

The Kona provides drivers with excellent performance, in addition to the environmentally friendly features it offers. According to the estimates provided by the EPA, it achieves a city mileage of 35.29 kilometers per liter and a highway mileage of 48.90 kilometers per liter, which places it among the most fuel-efficient electric cars now available. In addition, because of its minimal emissions, it is an excellent option for people who live in regions that have tight rules on the purity of the air.

The Hyundai Kona is a new all-electric car that's set to hit the market this year. The car has been designed with an emphasis on performance, and the team at Hyundai believe that it has the potential to be a game-changer for the electric vehicle industry. Here's what you need to know about how the Kona performs.

To start with, Hyundai claims that the Kona can achieve ranges of up to 200 miles on a single charge. This is significantly higher than most other electric cars on the market, and it should provide plenty of range for those who require it. In addition, the Kon has been designed with performance in mind. The company claims that its all-electric engine provides impressive power and torque, making it one of the quickest and most powerful electric cars available today.

Overall, the Hyundai Kona appears to be a well-designed and powerful all-electric car. Its range, performance and price point make it an attractive option for those looking for an electric vehicle.

    What's the range?

At the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai debuted a brand new electric car called the Hyundai Kona. It is an entirely electric vehicle. The range of the Kona is 80 miles, which is greater than that of any other electric car now available on the market. In addition, the Kona comes standard with a quick-charging mechanism that can get the battery up to 80% capacity in just thirty minutes.

    How's the Driving experience

The electric Hyundai Kona offers a driving experience that is comparable to that offered by conventional gasoline-powered vehicles. Even when travelling at high speeds or over rough terrain, the lithium ion battery that comes standard on the Kona ensures a ride that is smooth and constant. The dashboard of the vehicle features a user-friendly interface that makes it simple to operate without having to remove either hand from its grip on the steering wheel.

    What's the interior like?

Your daily drive to the office will be significantly more pleasant if you choose to travel in a car as futuristic and stylish as the Hyundai Kona. You will have lots of room to spread out thanks to the interior's contemporary and uncluttered design, which was created to be as simple as possible. Because of how supportive and comfortable the seats are, even the longest of journeys will feel like a breeze. In addition to this, you have excellent visibility in every direction as a result of the huge windows. And in the event that you forget to bring enough juice with you to work, there is a charging station for electric vehicles placed in close proximity to the parking lot. If you are searching for a car that is better for the environment and will save you money on your monthly gas bills, or if you are seeking for a fashionable ride that will make it easy for you to travel around town, then it is highly recommended that you take a look at the Hyundai Kona.

    Tech and infotainment

This is the year when consumers will be able to purchase the all-electric Hyundai Kona. The EPA estimates that the Kona can travel up to 300 miles on a single charge, as indicated by its rating of 107 mpge. That is very outstanding for a car that runs on electric power alone, and it is wonderful to see Hyundai taking the lead in this industry.

The Hyundai Kona comes standardly equipped with a variety of technological and infotainment features, all of which are designed to make driving less stressful and more enjoyable. To begin, the vehicle is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which means that you can use your smartphone to access your music library and GPS, respectively. Additionally, a built-in WiFi hotspot allows you to maintain your online presence even when you are moving around.

The Kona also comes with a number of additional cool features that are worthy of being mentioned. To begin, it comes equipped with a rearview camera that, regardless of whether it is day or night, displays an image that is crystal clear. If you do get lost, the automobile is equipped with GPS navigation, which will lead you back to your destination in a manner that is both secure and expedient.

In general, the Hyundai Kona automobile is an excellent choice for anyone searching for an all-electric vehicle that comes with a significant number of amenities that enhance the driver's comfort, security, and convenience.

    Battery Capacity and Electric Motors

Batteries are the source of the electricity that drives electric cars, which are propelled by that electricity. Because it influences how far an electric car can drive before needing to be recharged, the battery capacity is an essential component of an electric vehicle. A standard battery for an electric car can power the vehicle for approximately 100 kilometres.

When electric motors have a great deal of torque, their performance is at its peak (a strong force). For this reason, electric cars often have more capacious battery packs than gas-powered vehicles. To move a huge thing requires more power than to move a smaller one in the same amount of space.

The speed of an electric automobile is also impacted by the size of the battery that it uses. When an electric car with a smaller battery tries to go quicker than a standard automobile powered by gasoline, the electric car will experience a reduction in speed. Because of this, the typical range of an electric automobile is approximately 100 miles, and its top speed is approximately 30 miles per hour.

    Safety Equipment

You won't have to worry about your well-being when you're out and about thanks to the abundance of safety measures that come standard on the Hyundai Kona. Because the automobile has a range of 10 miles, you won't have to stress about making frequent pit stops to refuel it while you're out and about. With an estimated driving range of 124 miles provided by the EPA, there is enough of room for you to go to where you need to go without the need to worry about running out of charge.

The vehicle is pre-fitted with a number of safety mechanisms that will activate in the event of a collision and keep you and your passengers safe. The front and back airbags are intended to protect all occupants in the event of a collision, and the pedestrian recognition system is programmed to apply the brakes automatically if it detects a person walking in front of the vehicle. In the event that something does go wrong and you crash the Hyundai Kona into something, the car is equipped with emergency braking systems that will bring the vehicle to a stop.

It is not necessary to look any farther than the Hyundai Kona automobile if you are searching for a means of transportation that is kind to the environment. Not only does it run on solar energy, but thanks to its electric motor, it also has a low rate of fuel consumption. This is one car that will help you save money in the long term, so you won't need to worry about spending money on gas or filling up at the pump!

What's the warranty on the battery?

The battery in the Hyundai Kona comes with a warranty that is good for either six years or 100,000 miles.

Which cars compete in this segment?

The Hyundai Kona is one of many vehicles that compete in the market for electric cars. Other vehicles in this subsegment include. The Kona is a family-friendly midsize car that can travel up to 124 miles on a single charge and features an all-electric powertrain. It takes only ten seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest electric cars currently available on the market. The Tesla Model S, the Nissan Leaf, and the Chevrolet Bolt are some of the other vehicles that compete in this segment.

    Verdict Value for Money?

If you are searching for a car that offers exceptional value for the money, you might think about purchasing a Hyundai Kona. Not only does it have an outstanding economy for the amount of fuel it consumes, but it is also dependable and comfy. In addition to this, the fact that the powertrain is electric implies that you will have lower overall energy costs.
