2014 Chevrolet Cruze facelift launched

General Motors India has launched the updated Chevrolet Cruze in the price bracket of Rs 13.70 lakh to Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The company claims that the updated 6-speed automatic gearbox results in improved fuel efficiency and the ARAI figure for the Cruze is 14.81km/l. The claimed figure for the manual variant is 17.3km/l.
GM updated the Cruze back in October last year by giving it a fresher grille, revised headlamps, new front bumper and a different set of alloy wheels. This time around, the car gets turn indicators on the outside rear view mirrors (ORVM) as standard and two side airbags.
Mechanically, there are no changes made to the car, save for the automatic gearbox which has received a bit of an update. The Cruze will continue to come with the same 2.0-litre, 164bhp VCDi engine as before and the power is transmitted to the front wheels of the car via a 6-speed manual or the revised 6-speed automatic transmission.
"The Cruze has received an overwhelming response from consumers across India since its launch in 2009 and continues to be the largest-selling Chevrolet nameplate globally," said Rajesh Singh, Vice President, After Sales, Marketing and Sales, General Motors India.
"We are constantly upgrading our carlines according to the evolving needs of the Indian consumer. The updated Chevrolet Cruze with all new Gen2 automatic transmission returns improved fuel economy and also provides turn indicators on outside rear view mirrors, both of which are crucial for Indian road conditions," added Mr. Singh.
