Continental today celebrated the groundbreaking of its greenfield plant in Talegaon, Pune, dedicated to its powertrain business. The company plans to invest around 30 million euros (Rs. 240 crores) in infrastructure and buildings until 2020. The construction phase has already been initiated. Production scheduled to start at the factory by early 2020 for various drivetrain products including engine management systems, sensors and actuators as well as fuel and exhaust management components, for passenger cars, 2-wheelers and commercial vehicles.
Toyota will launch the 8th generation of the Toyota Camry in India today, and the hybrid is all set to arrive in India in an all-new avatar. The new model is based on a sharper design language and is underpinned by the new TNGA platform shared with the Lexus ES300h. Under the hood, the 2019 Toyota Camry will continue using the 2.4-litre hybrid petrol that uses an electric motor as auxiliary and is likely to be mated to the same e-CVT gearbox as before. The new Camry offers better driving dynamics, efficiency, and lower carbon emissions over its predecessor.
Electric-vehicle maker Tesla will recall 14,123 cars in China over airbags that contained a part made by now-defunct Japanese manufacturer Takata, the Chinese market regulator announced on Friday. The US giant has already announced the recall of some Model S vehicles as part of a global industry-wide rooting out of parts made by Takata, which went bust in 2017 after its airbags were blamed for a number of deaths. The affected vehicles in China are Model S cars made between February 2014 and December 2016, the State Administration of Market Regulation said.

Honda Cars India today announced a price increase on all its models, which will be effective from February 1, 2019. The company had already increased prices of its cars in January 2019 by up to 4 per cent and the coming month will see its cars getting costlier. The price increase on the CR-V will be Rs. 10,000 and on other models upto Rs. 7,000 depending on the variant.
Mahindra XUV300 is now slated to be launched in India on February 14, 2019. Mahindra had announced that the XUV300 will compete with models in the Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh range.
