San Francisco, Jan 10 (IANS) Tesla will stop selling the lowest-range versions of its Model S sedans and Model X SUVs from Monday, the electric car maker's CEO Elon Musk said. "Starting on Monday, Tesla will no longer be taking orders for the 75 kWh version of the Model S & X," Musk revealed in a tweet on Wednesday, while asking people interested in buying those vehicles to place their orders latest by Sunday. Higher-end versions of the S and X, equipped with a 100 kWh battery, will still be made and sold by Tesla, but at a higher price, CNBC reported, adding that Tesla did not respond to inquires as to why the S and X offerings were pared back.

And now, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the second generation Mercedes-Benz CLA at the CES or Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new CLA is larger than the outgoing model and surprisingly, even better looking too! Mercedes-Benz has retained its swooping body shape with the new car while the overall design language is very very similar to the larger and more premium Mercedes-Benz CLS 4-door coupe. The CLA will join the A-Class sedan in the lineup and will be priced slightly higher than the latter too.
India's largest carmaker- Maruti Suzuki has announced to increase the prices of select models by up to Rs. 10,000. The new prices will be effective from January 10, 2019 (today). The decision comes due to the impact of rising commodity prices and foreign exchange rates. The cyclical price revision happens at the start of every year and has become a norm in the auto industry. Recently, some of the major carmakers such as Hyundai, Tata Motors, Ford, Honda, Renault, Nissan, Toyota and BMW have also made price hike announcements citing similar reasons.
Volkswagen AG and Ford Motor Co will unveil a deeper alliance next week that goes beyond cooperating in commercial vehicles in a move meant to save the automakers billions of dollars as they develop new technologies, two people familiar with the plan said on Wednesday. The Volkswagen Ford Alliance has been exploring closer cooperation as trade frictions force carmakers to rethink where they build vehicles for Europe, the United States and China, and as software companies prepare to launch their own self-driving cars.
