Spy shots of the Scorpio facelift have been floating around on the Internet for over months and there've been many comments from the users enquiring about its launch. The media was as clueless as the average Joe till about a month back. Then came in the announcement that Mahindra will launch its refreshed Scorpio on the 25th of September and every media outlet that had anything even remotely to do with cars blocked its calendar for the same.
It's September 25th today and Mahindra will finally launch the facelift of its Scorpio today. The outgoing model has been a much-loved product ever since its inception in the market 12 years ago. Mahindra kept bringing out mild updates through its lifespan - like in 2006 when the Scorpio received some major upgrades and a new engine, followed by a facelift in 2008. This, however, is the most important (and also the biggest) product overhaul that the Scorpio will receive and it's all about an all-new platform.
Mahindra clearly is very excited about this launch, as is clearly visible from the comments made by the company's leading men on social boards -
“BIG day today #NewGenScorpio is only hours away....Scorpio customers & fans - give us a SHOUT !!! @MahindraScorpio”

In terms of design, though the new Scorpio get a new face, its front grille and rear door seem to have been inspired by the XUV500. The other brand new addition is an optional 4X4 system. As far as the engine line-up is concerned, it remains unchanged. The SUV will continue to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk and the 2.5-litre m2DiCR engine.
