Next generation Hyundai Sonata unveiled

Taking its design cues from the company's all new Genesis sedan, the new Sonta is surely a much better looking car now than the outgoing version. The sedan gets a new grille and long headlamps, which are also seen in the Genesis.

Ahead of its global debut at the next month's New York Auto Show, Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Sonata in its domestic market, Korea. Reports suggest that the Sonata nameplate will make a return in the Australian market as the replacement for the i45 sedan which was phased out there in early 2013. Taking its design cues from the all new Genesis sedan, the new Sonta looks sharper than than the outgoing model. The 2015 Sonata gets a new grille and peeled-back headlamps which inspired from the Genesis. The side profile is further accentuated by a flowing roofline and a more prominent character line. In terms of dimension, the new Sonata is bigger than the outgoing model, measuring 30mm wider, 35mm more in length, and 20mm longer in wheelbase. In the cabin, Hyundai claims that the new Sonata has been given better materials and advanced new technologies to enhance its appeal even further. The company also claims an improved NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) level, courtesy of new construction materials, methods and updated suspension. The car has MacPherson in the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. The 2015 Sonata is expected to get the same 2.4-litre GDi petrol engine that does duty in the Indian model currently. This 2,359cc engine produces 198bhp and 250Nm of turning force. A 2.0-litre engine which will be good for 165bhp and 210Nm, too, is expected to be on offer with the new-gen Sonata.
