UM Renegade Clocks 1000 Bookings; Deliveries to Commence This June

The US based UM Motorcycles Ltd. (UML) has garnered over 1000 bookings for the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S range of cruisers, since it officially started accepting bookings at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company is expected to commence deliveries for the cruisers in June this year. Both motorcycles were launched at the biennial event in February with the Sport S carrying a price tag of Rs. 1.49 lakh, while the Commando is priced at Rs. 1.59 lakh.
UML also announced the Renegade Classic cruiser for India, which is priced at Rs. 1.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi) and will be launched later in the year. Bookings are currently closed at dealerships as the company wants to deliver its first set of bookings, and will reopen by this June.

In a statement, UM India Two-Wheelers, MD, Rajeev Mishra said, "When we launched the Renegade siblings on 3rd Feb at the Auto Expo, we wanted 1000 brand ambassadors, and we're overwhelmed that we achieved this milestone withing 60 days of our launch. It is indeed a commendable feat for a company new to Indian shores, and we're hoping to keep the momentum going. Currently we've closed the bookings to ensure we deliver to our existing customers, and we shall reopen the bookings around June; same time as we begin deliveries."
The American bike maker made its debut on Indian shores at the 2014 Auto Expo and soon partnered with Lohia Auto in 50:50 joint venture to manufacture bikes for domestic and export markets.

UM Motorcycles will make the Kashipur facility an export hub
All three UML bikes are powered by the same 279cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine that develops 25bhp at 8500rpm and 21.8Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed transmission. The motorcycles will be produced in India by the Lohia Group's manufacturing facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The US manufacturer has invested around Rs. 250 crore in setting up the plant.
