Government Starts Registration for E-Rickshaws in Delhi
After a tumultuous affair with e-rickshaws on the national capital's roads, the Delhi government is finally set to welcome them back as it started registration for these vehicles. The government has approved 7 models of the new e-rickshaws and has registered two e-rickshaws, with the numbers DL IR 001 and DL IR 002, already.

Transport Minister Gopal Rai said, "Once the manufacturers appoint the dealers for the sale of the e-rickshaws, interested persons can purchase these new vehicles and get them registered."

Furthermore, the Delhi Finance Corporation has agreed to provide loans for the necessary retro-fitment at 13 per cent interest for a period of two years.

So far, the department has received 22,984 PSV applications, out of which 21,833 applications have been forwarded for police verification, and 782 applications have been received after police verification. The transport department has also issued 24,441 learning licences.

To further help ease the registration process, a simplified procedure for registration of e-rickshaws has been framed, and pamphlets with relevant information have also been printed in Hindi, said Mr Rai.
