Pros Cons of Toyota Hilux

Pros

  • The revised 200 bhp/500 Nm 2.8-litre diesel engine gives it better high-speed refinement.
  • For the first time Hilux now has a 4x2 variant alongside its traditional 4x4 iteration.
  • The sleeker LED headlamps, imposing grille, and tall nose give the front-end a modern look.
  • Its rear bumper integrates a built-in step that simplifies access to the cargo bay.
  • Revised shock absorbers allow it to settle faster and avoid bottoming out over harsh surfaces.
  • The tall seating position gives you great outward visibility.
  • Its hydraulic steering provides good overall feedback, especially at higher highway speeds.

Cons

  • The top-end variant costs upwards of Rs 44 lakh, making it an expensive buy.
  • Its hydraulic steering feels heavy at low speeds and while parking.
  • Basic physical buttons, simple cloth upholstery, manual seat adjustments, and basic digital screens show its utilitarian feel.
  • Rear seat comfort is not optimum due to its upright backrest angle and modest legroom.

Verdict

The Toyota Hilux has a brilliant reputation. Yes, it feels indestructible and at the same time, the sharper exterior design, revised suspension damping, and new 4x2 entry variant just improved its scope.

Bilal Firfiray said in his review, “For over six decades, this name has been slowly turning the wheels of the world without us even knowing about it. Some actually use it for off-roading or hauling stuff the way it is supposed to. But the fact remains that the Hilux isn’t for everyone.”

We admit that the firm ladder-frame ride, heavy low-speed steering feel, and basic cabin materials make it feel less premium for a lifestyle vehicle. But still, for buyers who seek strong pulling power, excellent durability, off-road ability, and genuine utility, the Hilux makes quite the impression.
