One of the most effective ways of reducing stress after following a monotonous routine continuously is travelling. It not only helps in rejuvenating but also allows people to explore places. Preparing for a road trip is quite an elaborate process since it requires you to check multiple items off your road-trip to-do list. Here are some things you should keep in mind or check before as well as during the trip:

- Once the trip has started, ensure that all the passengers, even those sitting in the back seat, are properly belted up. Wearing seat belts not only protects you from sustaining critical damage in case of an accident but also prevents bruises and cuts if the driver over-speeds over a speed-breaker.
- If you are going on a long road trip that will require you to drive continuously for long periods, make sure that there is a secondary driver tagging along with you. A secondary driver comes in handy, especially if you are tired of driving continuously and want to take some rest.
- Carrying a spare key with you on any journey is always a good idea since the primary key may get misplaced. However, you should store the secondary key in the glove compartment or inside luggage kept behind in the boot area. Else, keep it on you and do not store both the primary and secondary keys together. A good idea would be to give the spare key to another person.
- The windows suffer the most when your vehicle embarks on a road trip. Therefore, always carry lots of newspapers and tissues, since these make for excellent window cleaners and wipers. You can also use newspapers on the car's floor since they can prove to be quite effective mats. Speaking about paper, carry lots of toilet paper since most bathrooms you find on the road will probably not be very hygienic.
- If you are in a hurry to reach your destination, the most effective way of achieving the goal is to make fewer stops along the way. Instead of taking frequent breaks, you can step on the throttle and keep moving. Even though there are fuel stations present throughout the long highways, it is recommended that you get your tank filled up before starting the trip. If in case your fuel level drops, pin-point a nearby fuelling station on your navigation system.
