Audi A3 India Launch - Live Coverage

Just few more minutes and the Indian market will receive its first ever entry-level luxury sedan in the form of Audi A3. Interstingly, the A3 will also be the company's cheapest offering here that might help Audi become a mainstream luxury carmaker and maintain its lead over other two German rivals - Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

12:15: And the launch event finally begins. Audi's designer is on stage to explain the design philosophy of the all new A3 sedan.
12:18: The A3 has a sporty elegant design with elongated styling, long wheelbase, and short overhangs, says Audi India.
12:20: The all new Audi A3 is priced at Rs 22.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Quite a competitive pricing, isn't it? With this price, the car will not just be a threat for entry level luxury cars like BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class, the car will also undercut several premium SUVs and D2 segment sedans.
12:24: The A3 comes with two engine options - a 2.0 TDI diesel and a 1.8 TFSI petrol. There will be as many as four variants.
12:25: The A3 has intelligent hybrid construction, aluminium hood, occupant cell consists primarily of high-end steel.
12:26: Kerb weight of Audi A3 sedan 40 TFSI just 1270 kgs.
12:27: The car features Bi-xenon headlampw with LED daytime running lights and S-Spoke 16 and 17 inches alloys.
12:30: Mr. Joe King, Brand Director - Audi India is now on stage to address media.
12:31: The Audi A3 is country's first compact luxury sedan. And with such an attractive pricing, it's also the most affordable luxury car one can buy today in India.
12:33: Audi India believes that the A3 will play a major role in company's future growth. The company expects the A3 to contribute 15-20% sale in its total sales, says Mr. Joe King.
12:34: There is only one petrol variant, priced at Rs 28.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
