BMW X7 Pre-Production Models Roll Off The Assembly Line For Testing

BMW has announced that it has rolled out the first pre-production models of the all-new X7 from its Spartanburg plant in the USA. The all-new SUV from the Bavarian carmaker will be manufactured in the US and roll out the pre-production models mean that BWM has officially started road testing of the SUV. BMW has also announced that it will introduce the new X7 by the end of 2018, after a year of testing. This means that from here on, till the end of next year, we'll come across several images of the prototype of this big Bimmer, across different parts of the world, disguised in camouflage.

This is possibly one the first times that an automaker has introduced one of its upcoming models in such a manner. Having said that, this is not the first time that BMW has taken such weird ways to talk about it new models. Earlier we have seen the carmaker release images and videos of the prototypes of the new 7 Series and even the 8 Series concept, ahead of their respective official reveal.

BMW X7 is being manufactured at the company's Spartanburg plant in the USA
Commenting on the new model, Knudt Flor, head of the BMW Group Spartanburg plant said, "We are proud to produce the BMW X7 here in Spartanburg, the home of our X models. This is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet a further member of the X family. Together with the BMW X7, a total of five BMW X models will be exported from Spartanburg to all four corners of the globe."

BMW X7's styling will be similar to the X7 Concept
Coming back to the upcoming, all-new BMW X7, the new flagship SUV from the German automaker will borrow its design and styling cues from the X7 concept, which was unveiled early this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The SUV will be based on the company's CLAR modular platform, which also underpins the company's flagship sedan, the 7 Series. The teaser images released by the company from the assembly line also reveal certain details like the large kidney-shaped grille, like the one seen in the concept, the new sleeker twin pod LED headlamps, a muscular front bumper with large air intakes.

BMW X7 will come in a range of engine options
As for powertrain option we believe that BMW will offer the inline-six engines of the base trims and probably a V8 to bridge the gap between it and the V12, which will power the top-of-the-line model. This will also make it the first X model to get one. We hope that more details about the SUV's specifications and other details are revealed over the next few months. Also, the BMW X7 pre-production models already use the same assembly line as the BMW X5 and BMW X6 production models.
