Datsun is all set to give customers in India an opportunity to experience the all new Dastun GO hatchback first hand via a pan-India road show. The car is presently being shown in malls across various cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Datsun plans to showcase the GO hatchback in more than 90 cities prior to its launch, which is said to be a closer date to the Delhi Auto Expo.
Datsun comes to India at a time when the economic slump is at its peak. When asked if they had timed the entry right, John Kullu, General Manager, Marketing, Datsun India said, "We have timed it right. It is at such times that people are looking for an affordable alternative and the GO will be just that. All the variants (which includes the top-end) of the GO hatchback are priced below the 4 lakh margin. We are sure it is an attractive figure and we are happy to come here."
The Datsun GO will be sold through the Nissan dealerships in the beginning and in fact will also share the same service centre. Datsun India eventually would want to evolve as a big player but for the first few years it will piggy-back-ride on Nissan dealerships.
The launch of the GO will be followed by the GO MPV and according to what we hear, plans of the entire range will soon be unveiled.
