Exercise Restraint: Anand Mahindra Tells Thar Owners

A video showed two Thar drivers dangerously cross a flooded river on the way to Doodhsagar waterfall in Goa. This prompted Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra to take to twitter, and while he appreciated the drivers' faith in their SUVs, he advised to exercise restraint. "Found this post in my inbox this morning. While I appreciate their faith in the Thar, this looks like an incredibly dangerous manoeuvre. I appeal to Thar owners to exercise restraint" Anand Mahindra tweeted.

The video was reportedly shot on one of the two rivers that one has to cross to reach Doodhsagar waterfall. All the roads leading to the waterfall have also been, reportedly, blocked since the video was shot, and will remain shut the entire monsoon season, meaning the only way to see the famous waterfall in the state of Goa would be through South Western Railways.

Ever since it was launched, the Mahindra Thar has been celebrated for its extreme off-road ability. The 4x4 SUV with its compact proportions can conquer almost any terrain, may it be mud, sand, broken roads, or - as seen in this video - deep water too. However, at carandbike, we believe that all adventure activities should be carried out with extreme caution, and with proper safety measures in place. While the Mahindra Thar may have the ability to wade through deep waters, doing so in the flow of a flooded river can lead to disastrous consequences.
