Thomas Cup Winner Chirag Shetty Books XUV700; Anand Mahindra Reacts

- Indian Team recently won the top honours at the Thomas Cup 2022.
- Anand Mahindra took to Twitter to congratulate the team.
- Chirag Shetty has booked a Mahindra XUV700.
The doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy had a major role to play at the recently concluded Thomas Cup, as the duo clinched the first-ever gold medal by an Indian team. Obviously, congratulatory messages were in order from across the country, but the one that stood out was from Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra Group, who applauded the team's achievement by replying to a post on Twitter. It read, “This is the dawn of an era of Indian ascendancy in this sport; a sport that's always been loved & played throughout our country. I grew up reading about the Thomas Cup & titans like Indonesia's Rudy Hartono who dominated it. Today we swept Indonesia away…Apna Time Aa Gaya.”

The other reply was for a Mahindra XUV700 booked for his wife, for which he is still awaiting delivery. He said, “By the way, I have ordered one for my wife and I am still in the queue. Sadly, the global supply chain disruptions are plaguing all car companies.”
Launched in September 2021, the Mahindra XUV700 hit the ground running racking up bookings at a rapid rate as the first set of 25,000 bookings were exhausted within the first hour of the order books opened on September 7 while the second lot of 25,000 units also picked up within hours of the order books re-opening the following month and the 1 lakh number being crossed within four months of launch and sending waiting periods soaring.
