Fiat Argo Teased; Will Replace The Punto Globally

- The Fiat Argo will be launched soon
- It will replace the Punto hatchback globally
- In all probability, it will not be coming to India
Fiat recently released teaser pictures of its upcoming hatchback, the Argo, which will be unveiled globally very soon. The Argo will be replacing the Punto, which had been in the Fiat model line-up for almost 12 years. The Argo will make use of Fiat's small wide platform which forms the underpinnings of the 500x and the Tipo sedan as well. While it is good news for select international markets, Fiat might not bring the Argo to India, with the company not doing very well in terms of sales. From what we hear, the company might also spawn a compact sedan from the Argo platform.
(Fiat Argo Teased)The teaser images show that the Argo will have LED headlamps, LED DRLs, a roof and spoiler combo in two colour shades and a lovely looking set of alloy wheels with a 'scorpion themed design'. The overall styling will have an edgy theme, something similar to what the Tipo carries as well.
(Fiat Argo Teased)Fiat is said to launch the Argo in three trims - Attractive, Essence and Sporting. As far as engine options are concerned, there will be three units to choose from. The first one will be a 1.0-litre petrol motor making 72 bhp and 102 Nm of torque. Then there will be a 1.3-litre petrol engine making 100 bhp and 134 Nm and finally a 1.8-litre petrol which will churn out 134 bhp and 184 Nm. Fiat will have a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic gearbox to choose from. There is no word on diesel engines for now.
The Fiat Argo will be launched for the Brazilian market first and then make its way to other countries.
