Honda NT1100 Confirmed In Type Approval Documents

- Type approval documents reveal a new Honda NT1100 model
- Two variants of the Honda NT1100 are expected to be introduced
- The Honda NT1100 will be based on the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin
Honda is getting ready to introduce a new model in the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin platform. Latest type approval documents files in Europe reveal that Honda is indeed working on two Honda NT1100 models, and these two models are likely to be unveiled in the coming months. In fact, rumours from Japan have been going on for sometime now, suggesting that Honda may be working on a "CB1100X," a road-going model with a tall ADV-like stance, but not as off-road specific as the Africa Twin.

The Honda NT1100 imagined in an unofficial render image
The type approval documents confirm the internal code name SC84 of the new bike, and the code name refers to a streetbike in the NT1100 rather than an out and out adventure bike. According to reports, the type approval documents show two versions of the bike, the NT1100A and NT1100D. The NT1100A will be the base version, with a manual transmission and lower specification, while the NT1100D will use the Honda's DCT gearbox, and will have other changes including a taller screen. The engine will be the same 1,084 cc, parallel-twin unit of the Africa Twin.

The electronics suite will also likely be shared with the Honda Africa Twin, but the NT1100 will be heavier than the Africa Twin, owing to more comprehensive bodywork. Both bikes will have cast alloy wheels, rather than the spoked rims of the Africa Twin, going with the road-oriented touring nature of the models. Recent unofficial renderings show both the base variant and the top-spec variant of the upcoming Honda NT1100, but we can't confirm that the production model will have the same look. More details are expected in the coming months when Honda will possibly reveal more details.
